IRON MAIDEN launches their 2026 “Run For Your Lives” tour with a spectacular show in Athens, bringing back “Infinite Dreams” after nearly four decades. Read the full story now!

The legendary British heavy metal institution IRON MAIDEN officially commenced the 2026 chapter of their extensively publicized “Run For Your Lives” world tour on Saturday evening, May 23rd, delivering an unforgettable performance at the prestigious Olympic Athletic Center of Athens, commonly known as OAKA, located in the heart of Greece’s capital city. This particular concert venue stands as Greece’s premier stadium facility, boasting an impressive history of hosting distinguished international music artists alongside major sporting competitions throughout the years.

While the majority of the evening’s musical selection closely mirrored the setlist that audiences had experienced during the 2025 leg of this ambitious world tour, concert organizers and devoted fans alike quickly noticed one particularly significant modification to the program’s lineup. The Athens show featured the triumphant return of “Infinite Dreams,” a cherished composition extracted from the band’s seventh studio effort titled “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son.” This notable addition carried exceptional historical weight, as it represented the very first instance since 1988 that this particular track had been performed before a live audience, having originally been showcased during the promotional tour supporting that seminal album’s release.

Bruce Dickinson Addresses The Athens Crowd

Prior to launching into what would become the sixth selection of IRON MAIDEN’s meticulously crafted performance, lead vocalist Bruce Dickinson stepped forward to address the enthusiastic gathering assembled before him. The frontman delivered a heartfelt message that resonated deeply with those in attendance, stating that the band could not conceive of a more appropriate European location to officially inaugurate this tour leg. Dickinson acknowledged that certain audience members had already experienced portions of this elaborate production during previous stops on the itinerary, before teasing that the next musical number would represent something distinctly unique. He playfully remarked that while the upcoming song was certainly not “Alexander The Great,” audience members would find themselves contemplating their own “Infinite Dreams” as they prepared to retire for the evening.

Supporting Act And Tour Background

American thrash metal pioneers ANTHRAX provided supporting duties for IRON MAIDEN’s Athens appearance, adding their own brand of heavy metal intensity to what proved to be an extraordinary evening of live music. The collaborative nature of these tour arrangements has become increasingly common within the contemporary metal scene, with established artists frequently joining forces to deliver maximum value to their shared fanbases.

During the preceding October, IRON MAIDEN formally announced the North American dates accompanying their “Run For Your Lives” world tour, which has garnered substantial critical acclaim since its initial unveiling. Coinciding with the group’s spectacular 50th anniversary celebration, the band scheduled performances at prominent stadiums and major amphitheater venues throughout both the United States and Canada. This strategic approach enabled supporters to experience the elaborate new production in the grand scale for which it was specifically designed, featuring expansive outdoor stages that complemented the carefully curated collection of classics drawn from the band’s revolutionary first nine studio albums. Among these high-profile engagements, IRON MAIDEN was confirmed to headline America’s acclaimed Louder Than Life rock festival, scheduled to take place at the Highland Festival Grounds in Kentucky on September 17th, 2026.

These upcoming North American appearances will commemorate 45 years since IRON MAIDEN initially brought their distinctive sound to Canadian and American audiences during the 1981 “Killer” world tour, with official press materials emphasizing that audiences should anticipate experiencing “some of the biggest shows the band has ever played” on their home continent.

Band Policy And Recent Developments

Ahead of the “Run For Your Lives” tour’s initial launch in May 2025, IRON MAIDEN released an official communication directed toward their passionate fanbase, requesting that attendees “severely limit the use of their phone cameras out of respect for the band and their fellow fans.” This thoughtful policy, implemented to enhance the overall concert experience for everyone present, has since been confirmed to remain in effect throughout the 2026 tour segments as well.

Throughout their remarkable career spanning nearly five decades since establishing themselves in 1975, IRON MAIDEN has accumulated an extraordinary catalog of landmark releases. Their discography includes undisputed classics such as “The Number Of The Beast,” “Powerslave,” and “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son,” among many others that have fundamentally shaped the evolution of heavy metal music worldwide. The band’s most recent studio offering, their seventeenth overall LP titled “Senjutsu,” arrived on the scene in 2021, demonstrating that IRON MAIDEN continues to maintain their creative vitality even after more than four decades of continuous activity.

In December 2024, IRON MAIDEN concluded their “The Future Past Tour” with a final performance at Allianz Parque in São Paulo, Brazil. That particular concert series held additional significance as it marked the last live appearances featuring longtime drummer Nicko McBrain, who subsequently stepped down from his long-standing position within the group. McBrain has since been succeeded by Simon Dawson, an accomplished session musician who has served as IRON MAIDEN bassist Steve Harris’s consistent rhythmic partner throughout the past 14 years with the band BRITISH LION, bringing considerable experience and established chemistry to the legendary group’s drum kit.
