The highly anticipated film Pune Highway, featuring the talented Amit Sadh and Jim Sarbh, is set to hit theaters on May 16. The recently released trailer offers an exciting preview of a story steeped in suspense, drama, and an exploration of friendship amid mystery.
Directed by Bugs Bhargava Krishna and Rahul daCunha, Pune Highway is a whodunnit inspired by the critically acclaimed play of the same name. Produced by Drop D Films and Ten Years Younger Productions, the film also stars a stellar cast, including Anuvab Pal, Manjari Fadnnis, Ketki Narayan, Sudeep Modak, Abhishek Krishnan, Swapnil Ajgaonkar, and Shishir Sharma.
The trailer provides a tantalizing look at how the discovery of a dead body disrupts the lives of three childhood friends, leading them down a dark path of chaos. What begins as a seemingly routine getaway quickly spirals into a harrowing sequence of events that tests their bonds, challenges their ethics, and thrusts them into the center of a murder mystery.
Amit Sadh shared his thoughts on the project, stating, “This film has been an incredible experience for me, reminiscent of my journey with Kai Po Che. It tells a story of how ordinary individuals can unravel when faced with extraordinary circumstances.”
Co-director Bugs Bhargava Krishna emphasized the film’s thematic depth, commenting, “We aimed to illustrate how a single unexpected moment can upend everything you believe to be true. The narrative delves into emotions like fear, guilt, and survival, and we hope the audience finds as much enjoyment in unraveling the mystery as we did in creating it.”
Rahul daCunha added, “The original play continues to resonate with audiences. Our mission was to craft a mystery with multiple layers that also examines human behavior when trust and loyalty are put to the test.”
Pune Highway promises to deliver exceptional performances, a gripping storyline, and captivating intrigue, making it a must-see for mystery enthusiasts. The film previously garnered enthusiastic reactions during its screening at last year’s IFFI, resulting in a full house.
