Acclaimed Kannada director PC Shekhar is stepping into the world of digital streaming with his very first web series, Just Us. Known for his popular films like Romeo and other lighthearted hits, Shekhar is now embracing the OTT space to deliver a fresh cinematic experience that blends humor, emotion, and relatable storytelling.

The eight-part series will premiere on January 1 exclusively on PC Shekhar’s official YouTube channel, making it a perfect watch to kickstart the New Year.

Speaking about his latest venture, Shekhar shared, “After years of directing feature films, I wanted to explore the creative freedom of web series. With Just Us, I’ve introduced fresh talent — Vivek and Megha Jadhav — in the lead roles. The show focuses on authentic conversations and the complexities of modern-day relationships.”

At its core, Just Us examines a dilemma that many young people face. In careers like engineering or medicine, the path forward is often well defined. But when it comes to marriage and relationships, uncertainty seems to dominate discussions. To ensure authenticity, Shekhar consulted both psychiatrists and marriage counsellors, weaving their perspectives into the narrative to make it resonate with audiences.

The series strikes a balance between heartfelt emotion and lighthearted storytelling. Behind the camera is cinematographer Murali Krish, celebrated for his work in Nayaka and Terrorist. The music score is crafted by S Pradeep Varma, with a vibrant title track penned by Nagasinha Bharadwaj and voiced by Shravanthi. Fans can expect the title song to drop on December 22, ahead of the series launch.

Lead actor Vivek expressed his excitement, saying, “Working on Just Us was an incredibly refreshing experience. The script is unique, and PC Shekhar’s direction brought out the best in us.” Megha Jadhav added, “As someone who has balanced both a career in software engineering and performing in theatre, this role allowed me to explore a new creative space. It’s been a rewarding journey.”

With Just Us, Shekhar aims to present a show that feels youthful, relatable, and entertaining for Kannada audiences. The series promises natural dialogue, realistic situations, and a contemporary take on relationships — all wrapped in Shekhar’s signature style.

As the countdown to January 1 begins, Just Us is positioned to be one of the must-watch Kannada web series of the season, appealing to both long-time fans of PC Shekhar’s films and new viewers seeking authentic storytelling in the digital space.
