Get ready for an electrifying June as HBO Max unveils an impressive lineup, featuring highly anticipated A24 cinema, the return of a fantasy epic, and a diverse slate of original programming. Headlining the month’s cinematic offerings is the R-rated horror film Undertone, an A24 production, making its streaming premiere.

A24 Dominates the Cinematic Spotlight

Fans of independent cinema and the distinctive narrative style of A24 will find plenty to stream this June. The acclaimed production house is bringing three of its latest features to HBO Max, promising a blend of suspense, intrigue, and compelling storytelling.

Leading the charge is the much-anticipated R-rated horror event, Undertone, which officially joins the HBO Max catalog on June 26. This thrilling addition was confirmed by Warner Bros. Discovery in its comprehensive monthly programming announcement on May 21, setting the stage for a month of intense viewing experiences. Undertone promises to deliver the chilling atmosphere and psychological depth that A24 productions are renowned for.

The A24 cinematic journey begins earlier in the month with the debut of Pillion on June 5. This intriguing film features a stellar cast including Harry Melling and Alexander Skarsgård, who bring to life a captivating narrative about an introverted individual and a mysterious biker. Penned and helmed by Harry Lighton, Pillion explores themes of connection and transformation, with production credits going to Ed Guiney, Andrew Lowe, Emma Norton, and Lee Groombridge.

Following Pillion and preceding Undertone is How to Make a Killing, premiering on June 19. This gripping drama stars Glen Powell as Becket Redfellow, a determined blue-collar protagonist. The official synopsis reveals a man “disowned at birth by his obscenely wealthy family” who is prepared to “stop at nothing to reclaim his inheritance.” The film boasts an impressive ensemble cast including Margaret Qualley, Jessica Henwick, Bill Camp, Zach Woods, Topher Grace, and Ed Harris. John Patton Ford wrote and directed the project, with producing duties handled by Graham Broadbent and Peter Czernin.

HBO Originals: Epic Returns and Fresh Narratives

Beyond the A24 features, HBO Max is anchoring its June schedule with several high-profile HBO Original premieres spanning various genres, ensuring there’s something for every viewer.

The highlight for fantasy enthusiasts is undoubtedly the return of House of the Dragon for its third season, debuting on June 21. Fans can look forward to eight new episodes rolling out weekly, continuing the epic saga of the Targaryen dynasty.

Joining Undertone on June 26 is the premiere of the new series Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness. This original promises a fresh perspective and engaging storytelling, though specific details about its plot remain under wraps, building anticipation for its release.

Compelling Documentaries and Celebratory Collections

HBO Max’s documentary slate for June offers a rich tapestry of non-fiction storytelling. Acclaimed filmmaker Questlove directs Earth, Wind & Fire, a deep dive into the legendary music group, premiering on June 7. Delving into more complex societal narratives, Bring Me the Beauties: A Model Cult arrives on June 1, exploring the fascinating and often unsettling world of cults.

Further expanding the documentary offerings, The Welcome Table is set to debut on June 23, while Bang My Box: The Robin Byrd Story will close out the month’s non-fiction programming on June 30, promising compelling insights into its subject.

In addition to its new releases, HBO Max is also dedicating the entire month of June to celebrating LGBTQ+ voices with a specially curated Pride collection. Launching on June 1, this collection will feature a diverse array of films, series, and documentaries that highlight and honor the LGBTQ+ community, reinforcing the platform’s commitment to inclusive storytelling.

With a strong blend of R-rated horror, dramatic thrillers, a highly anticipated fantasy return, and a robust lineup of original documentaries and celebratory content, HBO Max’s June 2026 schedule is packed with must-see viewing that guarantees to keep subscribers entertained all month long.
