In a show of solidarity for the victims of Covid-19, Grand Master Viswanathan Anand will play a Checkmate Covid match with the celebrities and businessmen of the country to raise funds for the Akshaya Patra Foundation which will be used in the relief works of Covid-19.
The celebrities Aamir Khan, Kiccha Sudeep, Riteish Deshmukh, Singer Arijit Singh, Singer-Song Writer Ananya Birla, Cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, Xiaomi India MD Manu Kumar Jain, Zerodha Co-Founder Nikhil Kamath, Bollywood Producers Sajid Nadiadwala and Parchura Padakannaya will take part in the Checkmate Covid tournament with the World Chess Champion and Grand Master Viswanathan Anand.
Akshaya Patra Foundation which is in the forefront of many relief efforts to help the Covid-19 victims by serving relief meals in 19 States and one Union Territory has served nearly 128 million hapless people who are unable to feed themselves due to the onslaught of pandemic that disrupted the livelihoods of many people across length and breadth of the country since March 2020. They will utilize the proceeds from this Chess tournament to provide succour to the patients of Covid-19 and their families who are struggling with hunger during this devastating second wave of Covid-19.

This charity event which is a part of the Checkmate-COVID Celebrity Edition is organized by Chess.com, India in collaboration with Akshaya Patra Foundation and Extra Talent Management headed by Parchura Padakannaya.
The Checkmate Covid Chess match will take place on June 13 Sunday at 5 p.m. and will be streamed live on India’s official YouTube channel of Chess.com.
