While actors command the screen, the soul of television is forged by the writers, directors, designers, and technicians working behind the camera. The 27th annual BAFTA Television Craft Awards, held at The Brewery in London, was a dedicated celebration of these often-unsung heroes. Comedian Greg Davies presided over the ceremony, which distributed accolades for excellence across a vast spectrum of technical and artistic disciplines.
Spotlight on Top Honorees
The evening saw several productions garner critical acclaim for their craftsmanship. The limited series Adolescence and the reality competition The Celebrity Traitors led the pack, each taking home two prestigious awards. Other major winners included the sci-fi drama Andor, the period piece Amadeus, the comedy Big Boys, and the drama Reunion.
The awards also highlighted the industry’s future leaders. The Emerging Talent award for Factual was presented to director Olaide Sadiq for the powerful documentary Grenfell: Uncovered. The Fiction category honor went to writer Janice Okoh for her work on Just Act Normal. The Continued Triumph of Adolescence
The success of Netflix’s Adolescence at these awards continues its dominant streak throughout the 2025 awards season. Earlier this year, the critically acclaimed drama, renowned for its innovative one-take filming style, secured eight Primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Limited or Anthology Series. Its star, Owen Cooper, made history as the youngest winner ever for Best Male Actor in a Limited Series. The show also earned accolades for veteran actor Stephen Graham and director Philip Barantini. The series’ momentum carried to the Golden Globes, where Cooper again made history as the youngest winner for Best Supporting Actor in a Television Series.
