The high-stakes production of Ayan Mukerji’s War 2 faced a temporary setback last month when Hrithik Roshan sustained an injury while filming a dance sequence with Jr NTR. However, the team is proactively navigating the situation to keep the film on track for its August 14th release.
While Roshan focuses on recovery with movement training and physiotherapy, Mukerji recently completed a brief patch shoot near Mazgaon Docks. This sequence utilized body doubles and junior artists, ensuring progress without compromising Roshan’s healing process.
“The patch shoot was carried out with body doubles and junior artistes. Hrithik is still in recovery,” an insider revealed. “He’s expected to resume filming towards the end of April once he gets a go-ahead from his medical team.” Mukerji is actively collaborating with the team to adjust the filming schedule around Roshan’s recovery. “Ayan’s back with a laser focus,” the source added, highlighting the director’s commitment to the project.
The unexpected downtime has been utilized constructively. Mukerji and his team have focused on post-production for completed scenes and meticulously refined upcoming sequences. “The makers are confident about wrapping the film by May,” a source stated. “There’s a tight turnaround ahead, but YRF [Yash Raj Films] is used to managing massive schedules.”
Roshan’s well-being remains paramount. Production will resume dance sequences, particularly the highly anticipated collaboration with Jr NTR, only when he is fully recovered. This dance track, rumored to blend the energy of “Jai Jai Shivshankar” and “Naatu Naatu,” is already generating significant excitement, with Pritam composing what is expected to be a memorable musical moment in War 2. Despite the initial setback, the team remains confident in delivering the film on schedule this August.
Jr NTR recently confirmed at an event in Hyderabad that the August 14 deadline for War 2 will be met, dispelling any doubts about the film’s release date.
