The leading digital platform Disney+Hotstar has made its foray into regional arena with some awesome specials like My Perfect Husband, Live Telecast and Triples.
November Story, a murder mystery streaming now is another addition to the regional flavour which indicates the distinct variation shown in selection of stories by this popular platform.
Story
Anuradha Ganeshan (Tamannah) is an ethical hacker who founds her father Ganesan (G M Kumar), a crime novelist and suffers from Alzheimer’s in a pool of blood in their old house along with a woman whom she unexpectedly met some time back.
Anu very much knew that her father has not committed the crime, but the evidence goes against him so she needs to find out the truth and save her father. How did she do this? Is she going to hack the evidence? Only to be watched on screen to find out answers.
Performances
Tamannah is not only a milky beauty as she is popularly known as, she is also a brilliant performer. This was again proved by her with the character of Anu which she portrayed effectively. The way she hides her emotions in a subtle manner and conveys through those lovely expressive eyes despite many things happening before her is the hallmark of her impeccable talent.
Pasupathy as Dr Yesu has given top notch performance along with Vivek Prasanna as Malar and G M Kumar who have put forth credible performances to upgrade the narrative.
Behind the scenes
Indhra Subramanian’s writing is flawless on paper but when it comes to execution there were some loopholes which should have been avoided to make the whole narrative more gripping.
The 7-episode series gets dragged and the initial episode which runs into 50-minutes with over all run time of around four and half hours was a dampener as lot of time was spent in explaining the intricacies of hacking and establishing the characters which was a tad long.
The narrative which was basically around a murder mystery should have been more slicker to give that edge of the seat experience to the viewer. This was not found to some extent in November Story which is the only drawback of this otherwise gripping multidimensional series which sinks at a slow motioned pace.
Saran Raghavan’s music succeeds in providing the right feel to the narrative and the theme tune deserves special appreciation while the cinematography by Vidhu Ayyana was equally brilliant. Editor Sharan Govindasamy too did his job well by connecting all the dots efficaciously.
Final Verdict
The performance of Tamannah and the novel theme are the highlights of November Story which will be liked by those who prefer murder mysteries with lots of twists and turns. But patience is the key to enjoy this web series.
