MBC is set to release a groundbreaking new K-drama, To The Moon, on September 19, 2025, offering viewers a fresh blend of financial intrigue and emotional storytelling. Premiering in the network’s highly competitive Friday-Saturday 10 PM prime-time slot, the series will also stream internationally in Taiwan, Indonesia, and India via Wavve, highlighting its global appeal.

Adapted from acclaimed author Jang Ryu-jin’s novel, this 12-part drama features an impressive cast including Lee Sun-bin, Ra Mi-ran, Jo A-ram, and Kim Young-dae. Together, they bring to life a gripping tale that intertwines cryptocurrency, everyday struggles, and the universal search for stability and happiness.

A Story Rooted in the Crypto Boom

Set against the backdrop of the 2017–2018 cryptocurrency bull market, To The Moon follows three working women employed at Maron Confectionery—Jung Da Hae, Kang Eun Sang, and Kim Ji Song. Frustrated by stagnant wages and limited opportunities, the trio dives into the turbulent world of crypto trading in hopes of reshaping their futures.

The storyline reflects a time when South Korea’s crypto market reached an astonishing $3.14 billion in daily trading volume, capturing both the allure of quick wealth and the devastating risks faced by small investors. As producer Oh Da-young emphasized, the show’s intention is not to glorify speculation but rather to shed light on the realities, highlighting both the aspirations and setbacks of ordinary people caught up in the crypto craze.

More Than Just Finance—Romance, Comedy, and Heart

While finance forms the backbone of the drama, To The Moon isn’t solely about charts and coins. The series also weaves in themes of romance, friendship, and comedy. Viewers can expect a slow-burn relationship between Jung Da Hae and Ham Ji Woo (played by Kim Young-dae), which adds warmth and relatability to the high-stakes financial backdrop.

Adding to its authenticity, actress Ra Mi-ran recently revealed her own small stake in cryptocurrency—about $360 worth of Ethereum—demonstrating how closely the cast connects to the subject matter.

Early Controversy and Global Impact

Despite generating enormous buzz, the show faced early criticism when its teaser trailer was accused of cultural insensitivity, prompting MBC to remove the video and issue a formal apology. However, the controversy has not dampened anticipation. In fact, it has only fueled greater public interest, with many eager to see how the drama balances financial education with entertainment.

Given the global reach of K-dramas and their influence on fashion, technology, and pop culture, To The Moon could play a major role in normalizing conversations about cryptocurrency and financial literacy, particularly among millennials and Gen Z audiences.

Why To The Moon Is a Must-Watch

With South Korea’s cryptocurrency industry continuing to grow at a rapid pace, To The Moon arrives at exactly the right moment. It’s not only a drama about chasing dreams but also a social commentary on money, ambition, and modern survival. By balancing realistic depictions of market volatility with heartfelt storytelling, the series offers both entertainment and valuable insights.

For viewers who love K-dramas that mix romance, comedy, and real-world issues, as well as for crypto enthusiasts curious about how digital finance is portrayed on screen, To The Moon promises to deliver a unique viewing experience.

Mark your calendars for September 19, 2025, and catch this highly anticipated series on MBC and Wavve.
