In an exciting update for science fiction enthusiasts, filming has now officially commenced on a highly anticipated show linked to a beloved franchise. While production will take place in various locations around the globe, London will be the primary base for this new live-action installment, which marks the fourth addition to this iconic series. Fans may recall that back in November, Amazon along with MGM Studios publicly confirmed their collaboration to bring this project to life, which will ultimately be available for streaming on Prime Video to audiences worldwide.
The project in question is widely believed to be the forthcoming Stargate series. Recent announcements align with the timelines provided by Martin Gero, the series creator and producer, giving fans insights into what to expect in terms of production schedules and the anticipated timeframe for the show’s release. Last year, Gero shared with GateWorld that the writers’ room was set to commence work later in the year. He noted that these projects typically take about two years to complete, indicating, “It might be a little shorter, it might be a little longer—hopefully, it’s not longer. Just to set everybody’s expectations, it’s going to be a minute.”
The inaugural season of this new Stargate project will be in production for roughly two years prior to its debut on Prime Video. The current production timeline suggests several months of principal photography will extend into 2027, followed by extensive post-production and visual effects work. Additionally, Joseph Mallozzi, a consulting producer on the series, recently announced that the writing team is actively working in Los Angeles, having officially kicked off their efforts two weeks ago. Notably, James W. Skotchdopole, recognized for his diverse work on projects like Fallout, The Revenant, and Django Unchained, has also recently joined the production, although his specific role is yet to be disclosed.
While the official title of the series has not been announced, it has been confirmed that the new Stargate installment will be developed by Safehouse Pictures, a firm operated by executive producers Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell. Other contributors to the production include Quinn’s House Productions, Electric Entertainment, Centropolis Entertainment, and Amazon MGM Studios.
