Where to Watch Kennedy: Anurag Kashyap’s Dark Thriller Streams on ZEE5

After a long and celebrated festival run, Anurag Kashyap’s intense neo-noir drama Kennedy is finally set to reach audiences worldwide through a direct digital premiere. The film, which bypassed a conventional theatrical rollout, will debut exclusively on ZEE5 on February 20, 2026, marking its official release nearly three years after its world premiere.

A bold, atmospheric exploration of guilt, identity, and systemic corruption, Kennedy first captured attention at the Cannes Film Festival on May 24, 2023, where it premiered in the prestigious Midnight Screenings section. It later made a strong impression at the Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival on October 29, 2023, and continued to earn acclaim across numerous international film circuits—celebrated for its visual tone, haunting narrative, and powerful performances.

Now, fans of Kashyap’s uncompromising storytelling can experience the full force of Kennedy from the comfort of their homes.

A Descent into Darkness: The Story of Kennedy

Set against the rain-soaked, violent underbelly of Mumbai, Kennedy follows the fractured journey of Uday Shetty, a former police officer presumed dead and now living under the alias “Kennedy.” Portrayed with raw intensity by Rahul Bhat, Kennedy is a tormented hitman suffering from chronic insomnia, working within a corrupt law enforcement framework while wrestling with the weight of his past.

Haunted by the spectral presence of those he has killed, Kennedy walks a thin line between enforcer and penitent. His internal struggle unfolds over five sleepless nights, during which his psyche begins to unravel. The blurred lines between reality and hallucination amplify the film’s psychological depth, crafting a narrative that is as emotionally devastating as it is suspenseful.

The plot thickens when Kennedy crosses paths with Charlie, a seductive and enigmatic woman played by Sunny Leone in one of her most compelling dramatic roles to date. Her mysterious motives pull Kennedy deeper into a labyrinth of deception, blackmail, and unresolved vengeance. At the same time, Kennedy is driven by a personal mission—to track down Salim, a figure from his buried past whose re-emergence threatens to expose long-concealed truths.

A World Where Justice is Elusive

Kennedy doesn’t just tell a story—it immerses viewers in a world where morality is fractured, and power shields the wicked. Director Anurag Kashyap uses shadow-drenched visuals and a minimalist score to craft a noir atmosphere that echoes classic crime dramas while feeling distinctly modern and Indian. The film critiques institutional rot, painting Mumbai as a city where justice isn’t delayed—it’s absent.

Supporting performances elevate the narrative further. Mohit Takalkar delivers a chilling portrayal of Commissioner Rasheed Khan, a high-ranking officer entrenched in the system’s corruption. Abhilash Thapliyal and Shrikant Yadav round out the cast with strong, grounded performances that anchor the film’s gritty realism.

Why Kennedy Matters in Indian Cinema

Rarely does Indian cinema embrace the pure neo-noir genre with such fidelity. Kennedy stands out as a genre-defining work—unflinching, poetic, and layered. Its delayed OTT release only adds to the anticipation, promising audiences a cinematic experience that demands attention.

With its ZEE5 premiere, Kennedy opens the door to broader conversations about justice, redemption, and the psychological cost of violence—themes that resonate deeply in today’s socio-political climate.

Don’t miss the chance to witness one of Anurag Kashyap’s most personal and powerful films to date. Mark your calendars: Kennedy drops on ZEE5, February 20, 2026.
