Horror fans have reason to celebrate this fall, as Ethan Hawke steps back into one of his most chilling roles yet—the menacing villain known as “The Grabber”—in The Black Phone 2. According to the official synopsis, Finn is now a teenager trying to move forward after the harrowing ordeal he endured years earlier. At 17, he is still haunted by the memories of his captivity and the life-and-death struggle that defined his youth. Just as he attempts to rebuild his sense of normalcy, Gwen—now 15—is pulled into the nightmare herself. Gwen begins having unsettling dreams where she receives calls on the infamous black phone, accompanied by eerie visions of three boys being hunted at a snow-covered retreat called Alpine Lake.
Determined not to become a passive victim, Gwen sets out to uncover the truth behind these visions. Her relentless curiosity and courage soon lead her and Finn back into danger, as the siblings travel to the camp during a raging winter storm. There, Gwen unearths a disturbing secret that ties The Grabber’s legacy directly to their own family’s past. What started as a fight for survival becomes a deeply personal confrontation with an adversary who has only grown stronger beyond the grave.
The cast is bolstered by several notable names, including Demián Bichir, Arianna Rivas, Miguel Mora, Jeremy Davies, Maev Beaty, and Graham Abbey—all of whom bring depth to this chilling continuation. Behind the camera, Scott Derrickson returns to direct, once again collaborating on the screenplay with C. Robert Cargill.
