Duran Duran and Nile Rodgers Deliver a Groove-Heavy Anthem With New Single “Free To Love”

The legendary synth-pop pioneers Duran Duran have officially launched their musical journey for 2026 with a vibrant new release. Titled “Free To Love,” the single marks yet another high-energy collaboration with the iconic Chic co-founder and producer Nile Rodgers. This latest track continues a creative partnership that has spanned over four decades, bringing a familiar yet refreshed disco-infused sound to modern listeners.

As the band continues to evolve, this latest project emphasizes their commitment to high-production dance music and meaningful lyrical content. “Free To Love” serves as the debut of what promises to be a busy year for the group, solidifying their status as enduring figures in the global music scene.

A Message of Global Harmony

Keyboardist Nick Rhodes expressed his immense enthusiasm for the project, highlighting the unique synergy that occurs whenever the group joins forces with Nile Rodgers. According to Nick Rhodes, the energy brought by the legendary guitarist is powerful enough to illuminate an entire metropolitan area. He views the song not just as a piece of lighthearted entertainment, but as a global invitation for people to embrace tranquility and mutual understanding.

The musician described the track as a celebratory anthem for personal and collective liberty. In an era of global uncertainty, the band intended for this release to serve as a beacon for those who prioritize hope and peace. This philosophical approach to songwriting has long been a staple of the group’s identity, ensuring that their danceable tracks carry a deeper resonance.

The Legacy of a Multi-Decade Partnership

The bond between the British pop icons and the American producer is legendary within the music industry. Their shared history began in 1984 when Nile Rodgers provided a transformative remix for the song “The Reflex.” That specific version propelled Duran Duran to the pinnacle of the charts, securing their first number-one spot on the Billboard Hot 100. Since then, the collaborators have frequently reunited to produce some of the band’s most memorable work.

Rodgers echoed these sentiments when discussing the new release, speaking about the profound connection he shares with the band members. He noted that their collaboration always centers on a mutual appreciation for the underlying essence of their compositions. For Nile Rodgers and the members of Duran Duran, the studio environment serves as a sanctuary where they can explore creative peace regardless of the turbulence happening in the outside world.

Cinematic Visuals and Live Performances

To accompany the audio release, a visually stunning music video has been unveiled, helmed by the renowned director Jonas Åkerlund. The production features a guest appearance by the popular British media personality and broadcaster Clara Amfo. The aesthetic captures the essence of a high-glamour disco celebration, perfectly matching the nostalgic yet forward-thinking tone of the song.

Beyond their new music, Duran Duran is preparing for a jam-packed schedule of live performances. They are slated to return to England this summer to headline BST Hyde Park on July 5. This performance marks their second time at the top of the bill for this specific event, and they will be joined by special guests Scissor Sisters. This announcement follows their surprise appearance last year alongside Sabrina Carpenter, where they delighted audiences with a rendition of the classic hit “Hungry Like the Wolf.”

The group is also confirmed as headliners for the Beachlife Festival in California before moving on to a multi-date residency in Las Vegas at the Fontainebleau. Afterward, the band will embark on an extensive tour across Europe, ensuring that their international fanbase has ample opportunity to experience “Free To Love” in a live setting.
