A powerful political game packed with a captivating narrative

There are no permanent friends or foes in politics. The hunger for power takes people to any extreme and in his quest for power, the individual loses all the conscience, empathy, and compassion as evident from the history around the world.

The ALTBalaji and Zee5’s presentation, Dark 7 White is one such story which bares the true face of a power monger who goes to any length to satisfy his dark desires.

Story-line

Yudhveer Singh (Sumeet Vyas), the Chief Minister-elect gets assassinated on his way to the swearing ceremony. His death is shrouded in mystery as his friends and accomplices are the main suspects behind this brutal assassination.

Yudi wanted to know who is the killer and goes down memory lane unfolding his darker side which started from his college days in 2009.

Yudi quickly learns all the tricks of politics and with the help of his bête noire Neelakshi (Monica Chaudhary) and his trump card Greeshma (Taniya Kalra) he went on to win the college elections even turning his foes Yogesh (Shekhar Choudhary) and Kush Lamba (Kunj Anand) into friends by using his diabolic tactics.

Yudi’s quest for power remains unsatiated and he now gets into wedlock with Daisy (Nidhi Singh), the daughter of CM to usurp the powerful position at the top.

But ACP Abhimanyu Singh (Jatin Sarna) has other ideas as he is on a different kind of mission to deliver justice by deploying all the strategies to keep Yudi under check culminating in an unexpected climax in the end.

Performances

It’s Sumeet who hogs the limelight with his chameleon-like character to which he has done complete justice. Right from the college days to the day of his assassination, the character of Yudi goes through different shades and Sumeet portrayed every shade of Yudi with great maturity and commitment.

Jatin Sarna appears in a significant role and belts out a swashbuckling performance as Abhimanyu on par with Sumeet.

Monica Chaudhary, Madhurima Roy, Taniya Kalra, and Nidhi Singh are at their best in prominent characters which contributed a lot to drive the narrative forward.

Kunj Anand, Shekhar Choudhary, and Rachit Bahal too have chipped in with energetic performances that bolstered the series to the next level.

Behind the scenes

The writing of Mohinder Pratap Singh, Mayuri Roy Choudhury, Pranjal Saxena, Shashank Kunwar, and Snehil Dixit which was adapted from the novel by Shweta Brijpuria and brilliant presentation by Sattwik Mohanty deserve top honours for making Dark 7 White into a powerful political game packed with a captivating narrative.

Sandeep Yadav handled the cinematography quite admirably by presenting breathtaking visuals of Jaipur adding a dash of beauty.

Verdict & Rating

Apart from an absorbing storyline, the performances of all actors are an added attraction particularly Sumeet and Jatin have taken Dark 7 White to different heights with their riveting performances.

The beauty of this series lies in the suspense that is sustained till the last frame and there is no reason whatsoever to miss this highly engaging series in view of all these positive factors.

Rating: 3.5/5
