A well-made series with highest thrill quotient

The first season of Abhay has ended on a suspenseful note with Abhay chasing the serial killers and tracking the dreaded child traffickers. On the other hand, Abhay also has to overcome a stormy past and thwart the efforts of his friend turned foe Govind who vows to take revenge leading to an edge of the seat thriller.

Season 2 of Abhay which is streaming now on Zee5 comes back with more thrills thereby creating more nail-biting moments.

Storyline

Abhay (Kunal Khemu)has to confront a twisted serial killer Harsh (Chunky Pandey) who loves ‘Brain Soup’ for more strength and power, but for a change, he chooses the ‘human brains’ that are intelligent and are toppers in their studies to fulfill his perverted obsession.

The second episode delves on an eccentric killer Saloni (Bidita Bag) who kills to experience an orgasm. She uses her beauty as her bait and traps people to enjoy her deleterious fantasies. Abhay and his team comprising of Khusbhoo (Nidhi Singh) and Awasthi (Devendar Chaudhury) use all their brains to crack this mystery behind this beautiful killer.

Then enters the scene, the most fearful kidnapper (Ram Kapoor) who kidnaps school children to settle his scores. He throws a challenge to Abhay in the form of puzzles and with every puzzle solved, the kidnapper starts releasing the children who are held in his captive.

Its Abhay’s turn to spend sleepless nights not only to solve the puzzle given by the kidnapper but to crack the mystery behind them in no time so that children can be released safely. It’s a test of patience, endurance, and intelligence interspersed by race against time.

Performances

Chunky Pandey in a not so ideal role for him has made the heads turn as he convincingly portrays the character of a cold-blooded serial killer. But its Kunal and Ram Kapoor who makes the latest season of Abhay a treat to watch with their towering performances.

Kunal’ s intensity is matched perfectly by the convoluted character of the kidnapper by Ram Kapoor to the hilt. Most of the scenes of Ram Kapoor, the one when he walks into a media office to surrender himself and his conversations with Kunal stand out as masterpieces showcasing the immense talent possessed by this wonderful actor.

Asha Negi as the journalist Sonam Khanna is near perfect and charming too in her character while Nidhi Singh who is on a high with back-to-back series dishes out a splendid performance along with Bidita Bag and Raghav Juyal who are equally outstanding.

Behind the scenes

Director Ken Ghosh aided by the riveting story and screenplay of Sudhanshu Sharma has done a stupendous job in presenting yet another thrilling series with great aplomb.

If writing is the soul, the deft handling of Ken Ghosh is the heart that made the series of Abhay a lively thriller.

Icing on the cake is the formidable background score by Ajay Singha which is mind-blowing and it contributes a lot in creating the necessary chills down the spine.

Verdict & Rating

Abhay is one of the best in the crime thriller genre without an iota of doubt. A well-made series with all the action and highest thrill quotient elevated by remarkable performances. Go and watch but be a bit careful if you are weak-hearted.
