Subham marks a significant milestone as Samantha’s debut production venture under her banner, Tralala Moving Pictures, produced in partnership with Kanakavalli Talkies. The actress has previously spoken passionately about the project, describing it as a “little labour of love” from a “small team with big dreams” and highlighting Tralala’s aim to create “unique, thought-provoking cinema.”
The film is helmed by director Praveen Kandregula, based on a script by writer Vasanth Mariganti, the creative minds behind the critically appreciated film Cinema Bandi.
A recently released teaser for Subham, launched during the Ugadi festival, provided viewers with a taste of its intriguing premise. The clip begins on a wedding night, where the groom, having been perceived as a simpleton, attempts to assert himself as a tough ‘alpha male’. However, the dynamic dramatically shifts at the stroke of midnight, as the seemingly gentle bride unveils an entirely different side to her character. The teaser also features a humorous exchange between the groom and his friends, discussing the importance of being an ‘alpha’ in relationships and playfully warning him of potential consequences. Though elements might suggest a horror-comedy tone, the sharp dialogue points towards a focus on exploring gender roles and relationship complexities.
Adding fresh faces to the screen, Subham introduces six new talents: Harshith Reddy, Shriya Kontham, Charan Peri, Shalini Kondepudi, Gavireddy Srinivas, and Shravani. The technical crew is equally impressive, featuring Mridul Sujit Sen as cinematographer, Ram Charan Tej as production designer, and Dharmendra Kakarla as editor.
