Ram Madhvani, the maker of the award winning web series Aarya featuring Sushmita Sen  is now going to helm a new web series based on the Jallianwala Bagh massacre that has recharged and changed the course of the Indian Independence struggle.

Ram Madhvani has earlier directed critically acclaimed Neerja starring Sonam Kapoor based on the life of air hostess Neerja Bhanot who displayed utmost bravery in the hijack of Pan Am flight in Karachi. His latest film Dhamaka with Kartik Aryan in the lead will be releasing very soon on OTT platform Netflix.

Tentatively titled Jallianwala Bagh : The Walking Of A Nation, the production work of this series will commence shortly and it is based on the research done by the Hunter Commission that was formed to investigate and submit the report on the massacre in 1919.

Incidentally, the report submitted in 1920 has unanimously condemned the action of Brigadier-General Dyer who was responsible for the death of around 1000 men, women, and children in the Jallianwala Bagh massacre on April 13, 1919.

Sources close to the project of the series added that “It is created by Madhvani and is one of the projects he is going to be producing under his banner Ram Madhvani Films.”

On the other hand, renowned producer and director Karan Johan has also announced recently that he is making a film based on the life of Sankaran Nair who fought against the British Raj to unravel the truth behind the Jallianwala Bagh massacre and its an adaptation of the book titled The Case That Shook The Empire written by Raghu Palat (Great grandson of Sankaran Nair) which will be directed by Karan Singh Tyagi.

A web series and a film by noted makers will unearth all the brutality behind one of the worst tragedies in the Pre-Independence history of India perpetrated by the British that should be made known to the present younger generation.
