Global documentary streaming platform DocuBay has unveiled its latest original production, Dirty Entertainers: The Business of Indian Erotica, a revealing look into India’s evolving erotica industry. As the sector contends with increasing scrutiny, tighter regulations, and content restrictions on digital platforms, the film seeks to unpack both its artistry and its controversies.
Directed by Heena Dsouza and produced by HumaraMovie, the documentary features candid conversations with prominent performers and creators, including Maya Jafar and Rajsi Verma. Through their experiences, Dirty Entertainers explores how individuals in this often-misunderstood ecosystem navigate the delicate balance between creative freedom, societal judgment, and censorship.
According to Aditya Pittie, Managing Director of IN10 Media Network—the parent company of DocuBay—the project embodies the network’s mission to tell courageous, thought-provoking stories. “Our aim is to highlight subjects that are frequently discussed in whispers but seldom given an open platform,” Pittie explained. “While the glamour of show business is widely celebrated, the more complex, unseen layers of it deserve equal attention.”
Adding to this, Samar Khan, COO at DocuBay, described the documentary as a deep dive into the intersection of economics, content, and censorship. “Beyond portraying the erotica genre, it examines the business mechanisms that sustain it, offering an unfiltered perspective on a world that continues to thrive despite being marginalized,” Khan said.
The film marks a significant collaboration between DocuBay and HumaraMovie, one of India’s most respected independent production companies. Abhishek Gautam, associate producer at HumaraMovie, emphasized the importance of showcasing authentic voices rarely heard in mainstream media. “Capturing real-life experiences from those directly involved adds credibility and emotional depth,” he noted. “DocuBay’s global audience allows these stories to reach beyond borders.”
Director Heena Dsouza stated that her vision was to humanize the industry and challenge preconceived notions. “I wanted to present the people behind the content without judgment—highlighting their resilience and the realities of their world,” she said.
Dirty Entertainers: The Business of Indian Erotica is now streaming exclusively on DocuBay, accessible in over 170 countries across platforms such as the Apple App Store, Google Play, Fire TV, Roku, Apple TV, and Samsung TVs.
