Netflix is ready to captivate audiences with a grand retelling of India’s most celebrated epic in its latest animated offering, Kurukshetra. Scheduled to premiere on October 10, 2025, this two-part series marks Netflix’s first Indian mythological anime, setting a new milestone in the platform’s portfolio. Directed by Ujaan Ganguly and conceptualized by Anu Sikka, Kurukshetra reimagines the Mahabharata’s iconic war through a modern, emotionally resonant lens.

The series unfolds over two volumes comprising nine episodes each, taking viewers deep into the legendary 18-day battle that defined the fate of kingdoms. Each episode focuses on one of the 18 central characters, offering personal insights into their fears, duties, and internal conflicts. Heroes like Arjuna, Draupadi, and Bhishma Pitamah are not portrayed as mere figures of mythology but as complex individuals grappling with loyalty, morality, and destiny.

What sets Kurukshetra apart is its ability to humanize divine legends, turning an ancient saga into an intimate character-driven narrative. Instead of retelling the events, it explores the emotions and decisions that shaped them, blending mythological grandeur with psychological depth.

The series boasts a talented voice cast, including Vinod Sharma and Sahil Vaid, who infuse their characters with vitality and nuance. Complementing the visual artistry is Sameeb Sen’s mesmerizing musical composition and Gulzar’s poetic contributions, which together elevate the storytelling to a profound cinematic experience.

Visually arresting and emotionally layered, Kurukshetra is more than just an animated show – it’s an exploration of humanity, courage, and sacrifice. With its fusion of tradition and technology, it redefines Indian animation while honoring the timeless essence of the Mahabharata.

For anyone passionate about mythology, anime, or epic storytelling, Netflix’s Kurukshetra promises to be an unforgettable watch that bridges the ancient and the contemporary with stunning finesse.
