Here, Wamiqa shares her thoughts exclusively with IWMBuzz.com about the movie, her collaboration with Rajkummar Rao, and more.
What was your experience working in the comedy genre in Bhool Chuk Maaf?
My experience on Bhool Chuk Maaf has been incredible. I thoroughly enjoyed the shooting process and am grateful for the chance to delve into the comedy genre, which I had always wanted to explore. The opportunity to work alongside such talented actors made the experience even more gratifying. We engaged in a lot of improvisation and captured spontaneous reactions during the shoot. The environment allowed for both hard work and relaxation, which made it a lot of fun.
Can you describe your experience working with Rajkummar Rao?
Rajkummar Rao is a stellar actor. Initially, I felt a bit anxious, but he quickly put me at ease. His demeanor on set made me feel comfortable, and our off-screen friendship was wonderful, which I believe will translate well into our on-screen chemistry.
Could you tell us about your character?
I play the character of Titli, who is content with her life. She is an accomplished dancer and has a simple, unyielding ambition of getting married. She maintains a carefree outlook without harboring grand expectations from life. Portraying a character like her was a delightful experience.
What are your personal views on marriage?
Marriage hasn’t been a thought on my mind! It’s something I might consider when I desire to have children. For now, my focus is on embracing a variety of characters in my acting career.
The film incorporates a time loop concept. What can viewers anticipate from this?
Filming the time loop sequence in the narrow streets of Banaras was quite enjoyable. Previously, I associated time loop stories mainly with Western films, so it’s exciting to see this concept explored in an Indian context. The diversity of Indian culture, the distinct personalities of people, and our film’s characters’ unique traits combined with the time loop concept create an interesting narrative. I am eager to see how this genre unfolds in our film.
The film portrays an old-fashioned romance. How does this differ from modern romantic subjects you’ve worked on?
Certainly, you could describe Bhool Chuk Maaf as a prime example of ‘desi romance.’ The love story begins with bickering and confusion, showcasing a pure form of love. Yes, it can easily be categorized as old-school romance. It’s quite different from the modern love stories dominating today’s narratives.
What upcoming projects are you most excited about?
I am hopeful that audiences will warmly receive Bhool Chuk Maaf. At the moment, I’m content with where I am. There are other projects in the pipeline, but it’s a bit early to discuss them.
