Lackadaisical story fails to offer wholesome entertainment
Adult comedy has got a different set of viewers and Balaji Tele Films along with their streaming partner ALTBalaji has designed many series and films catering to this section like Gandi Baat (which is already 4 seasons strong), Ragini MMS Returns, Who’s Your Daddy, and XXX Uncensored to name a few and Virgin Bhasskar is another latest addition in this genre with Season 2 streaming now on ALTBalaji and Zee5 platforms.

Storyline
Much water has flowed through Ganges since November 2019 but unfortunately, Bhasskar Tripathi (Anant Joshi), the famous erotic story writer of Varanasi remains a virgin who undergoes breakup blues once again for the umpteenth time with Vidhi Pandey (Rutpanna Aishwariya).
Bhasskar pens many more stories with the pen name ‘Bad Boy’ which as usual lapped up by many irrespective of age or profession. Now Bhasskar confronts with writer block much to the ire of his publisher Bhatuknath (Durgesh Kumar) who gets annoyed due to competition in the name of duplicate ‘Bad Boy’ from a rival publisher. The ‘Bad Boy’ who is a ‘Bad Girl’ Paakhi Chaudhary (Jiya Shankar) gets tied up with Bhasskar to release many more erotic stories much to the delight of Bhatuknath.
By the time Vidhi and Paakhi realize the truth after a series of twists, turns, misunderstandings similar to those in Season 1, Bhasskar leaves in search of greener pastures leaving all his soul mates in disarray.
Performances of Artistes
Anant Joshi shows signs of maturity and his performance got better than in Season 1. Though there is limited screen time for Aishwariya in the latest season, she has done well as a misguided lover of Bhasskar.
But the cake goes to Jiya Shankar who nailed it in the role of Paakhi with a refreshing performance and it’s a delight to watch some of her expressions which she conveyed brilliantly through her eyes.
Dherendra Tiwari as Mishra has come up with another scintillating performance and some of his one-liners though with double entendre are rip-roaring with his ‘Mishraology’ being a big revelation in this series.
Himanshu Arora as Rohan once again proved his mettle with some funny moments as a guy who is in search of true love and some of his scenes with Tiwari as well as with Joshi (the scene at the girls hostel) are simply hilarious.
Direction & Technical Aspects
Directors Sangieta Rao and Sakshat Dalvi have relied more on content in Season 2 refraining from a higher dose of explicit scenes and skin show which is a refreshing change when compared to the earlier season.
The writers Manish Kumar and Ajaydeep Singh while succeeded in driving the point home that ‘Sex is external and Love is spiritual’, have continued the story in the same groove as in Season 1, and its quite ordinary without any semblance of variety or newness.
The writers should have come up with a gripping story by adding more depth and amalgamating an array of human emotions in the story by infusing some novel comedy sequences.
The background score by Aashish Rego fails to ring any bells except for the title tune and photography by Amit Singh is just passable as it has nothing to improvise or highlight in the entire series.
Verdict & Rating
A 12 episode lengthy ordeal with a lackadaisical story and an extended parting speech by Bhasskar, in the end, is a big turn off. Except for some funny moments and cheeky one-liners Virgin Bhasskar fails to offer something new and suffers badly due to a half-baked script which falls well below the expected standards.
