The trail blazer Pushpa 2 continues its victory lap overseas and according to the reports that are trickling in, this mighty blockbuster has just missed to beat RRR in North America box office collections by a negligible margin. This film which has amassed Rs. 1493.84 Cr gross at home has grossed Rs 134.01 Cr in North America box office collections where it has to be satisfied with the 5th spot behind RRR which was at the 4th spot.
More than the fire that hit Los Angeles, the fire that raged North America by Pushpa 2 was quite furious that saw enormous response from audience along with continuous ringing of cash registers at the box office. In over 1,100 locations, Pushpa 2 was unstoppable and collected a never before $15.26 Million (Rs.134.01 Cr) which was quite impressive by all standards. Nevertheless, it could not beat RRR who stood at 4th spot with an impressive overall collection of $15.4 Cr and that’s quite narrow too, a mere difference just a couple of lakhs.
The Telugu 2D version of Pushpa 2 has added $6.27 Million thus making it 41% of the revenue while the Hindi version itself contributed $7.2 Million, becoming the top grosser for a Hindi release of a Telugu film in North America. Not only in India, the people speaking Hindi language in North America also got floored by the rampage created by Pushpa Raj was quite evident by these figures.
Interestingly the break even of Pushpa 2 was $15 Million which was highest by any means in this part of the USA and this being the reason, the distributors were unlucky as they have to be satisfied with meagre margins mainly due to the escalated acquisition costs of Telugu films which goes by increasing demand in this market. Comparitively, the distributors of Sankranthiki Vastunnam were happy to reap profits as this has become breakeven just after five days and because of its low acquisition costs.
One more feather in the cap of Pushpa 2 is its worldwide collections wherein it has wrapped the theatrical run with a gigantic gross collection of Rs.1785.84 Cr and in turn becoming the second highest Indian film missing Bahubali 2‘s Rs.1800 Cr world wide collection by a whisker.
So that’s the power of Pushpa 2 which has rewritten box office records all over the world and its unstoppable!
