Noah Wyle is back in action as the beloved Dr. Robby, as seen in the recent images released from Season 2 of The Pitt. These new stills, provided by EW, also offer a first glimpse of Dr. Al-Hashimi, portrayed by Sepideh Moafi (from Black Bird and Generation Q: The L Word). Al-Hashimi is an attending physician joining the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center from the VA, bringing experience from her work alongside Dr. Mel King (Taylor Dearden) and Dr. Samira Mohan (Supriya Ganesh). Showrunner Gemmill characterizes this new character as “very progressive in her medical methods.”
While The Pitt is introducing new faces like Dr. Al-Hashimi, familiar favorites will also return. The premiere episode will spotlight Patrick Ball’s Dr. Langdon, who many thought was dismissed but is making a comeback to assist victims of a mass shooting. The status of Langdon was uncertain at the conclusion of Season 1, but he confirmed his return earlier this summer before filming commenced for Season 2. Taylor Dearden has hinted at further developments in Mel’s relationship with Dr. Langdon this season.
Fans are eager for the comeback of Dr. Mohan, who shared a brief yet intense connection with Dr. Jack Abbot (Shawn Hatosy) in Season 1. Although it was unclear who would return for the new season, fans are excited to see Dr. Mohan back for another shift at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center. In addition to his recurring role, Hatosy will also take on directing duties for an episode in Season 2.
It has also been revealed that Season 2 of The Pitt will include a time leap to the Fourth of July weekend, which is sure to bring the ER team a variety of new challenges and injuries. Along with Hatosy’s directing, it has been confirmed that star Noah Wyle will also direct an episode this season. This opens the opportunity for additional cast members to explore directing, potentially learning from both Wyle and Hatosy on set.
The second season of The Pitt is set to premiere on January 8.
