Netflix keeps churning out Spanish thrillers that hook millions of viewers, and now they’re at it again with The Marked Woman. If you loved The Invisible Guest, The Body, Mirage, or the wild ride of Money Heist, this new mystery should be right up your alley.

Here’s what you need to know:

The Marked Woman drops globally on Friday, June 5. Netflix is launching it in over 190 countries at the same time, which is pretty ambitious. You’ll be able to watch it in Spanish with dubbing options in English, Hindi, Tamil, and Telugu, so it’s accessible no matter where you’re tuning in from. People have been buzzing since teaser images hit in April, but when Netflix dropped the official trailer in May, anticipation really ramped up.

Production Background and Source Material

The film started as the crime novel “La Desconocida,” written by Rosa Montero and Olivier Truc. Lara Sendim adapted it for the screen, and Gabriel Ibáñez Rodrigo ended up directing after a bit of a winding development process. Filming kicked off in May 2025, and the crew shot in gritty industrial zones and along the coast in Algeciras—which gives the movie its tense, moody backdrop. K&S Films produced it, bringing together a team that wanted to create something seriously gripping.

Plot Synopsis: A Nightmare Discovery

As for the story itself, it’s one you’ll want to keep the lights on for. Everything begins with a creepy discovery at the Port of Barcelona. A night watchman’s German shepherd won’t stop sniffing at a particular shipping container, so the authorities check it out. Inside, they find a young woman—she’s bound, hurt, barely alive. She pulls through, but her memories are gone. She doesn’t know her own name, doesn’t remember anything about her past, or why someone targeted her.

Then things get even scarier: an assassin sneaks into Hospital Clínic, hell-bent on making sure she never regains her memory. Detective Anna Ripoll, Officer Quique Zárate, and a French intelligence agent team up to figure out what happened. Their investigation uncovers ties to a giant international trafficking ring, and this survivor ends up being the key to unraveling it all.

Cast and Characters

The cast really sells the drama. Ana Ruidjas plays the victim, dealing with memory gaps and flashes of violence as her past starts to fall back into place. Candela Peña gives Detective Ripoll both grit and compassion as she hunts for answers. Pol López is Officer Zárate, Ripoll’s steady partner. Then you’ve got Manolo Solo, whose character is tied to the victim’s shadowy history, Luka Peros in a role of authority, and Kira Miró, who brings heart to the case.

The supporting cast adds additional layers to the unfolding mystery. Manolo Solo portrays a character with deep connections to the victim’s hidden history, while Luka Peros steps into a position of authority linked to the broader investigation. Kira Miró completes the lineup with a pivotal role that weaves emotional currents throughout the case.

Why should The Marked Woman be on your list?

With its acclaimed source material, international conspiracy elements, compelling ensemble cast, and positioning among Netflix’s June releases, The Marked Woman appears poised to become another standout addition to the platform’s growing collection of Spanish-language thrillers. The combination of amnesia-driven mystery, international trafficking plotlines, and high-stakes investigation creates a recipe for pulse-racing entertainment that thriller enthusiasts will find impossible to resist.
