Prime Video’s six-part series Steal is set to deliver an adrenaline-fueled ride for fans of crime dramas and heist thrillers. Led by Game of Thrones alum Sophie Turner, this tightly woven tale of betrayal, high-stakes crime, and survival takes viewers deep into the chaos of Britain’s largest armed robbery. With its compact episode count, sharp writing, and fast-paced direction, Steal promises to be the perfect binge for thriller enthusiasts when it starts streaming from January 21.

Story

Set in the bustling heart of London, Steal follows Zara (Sophie Turner) and her friend Luke (Archie Madekwe), two mid-level employees at Lochmill Capital — a pension-fund investment firm. Their monotonous weekday grind contrasts with their lively weekend escapades, until a team of sharply dressed, intimidating criminals storms their office. In an audacious cyber-heist, the gang siphons off a staggering four billion pounds and forces Zara and Luke to help finish the job.

When the thieves vanish without a trace, the duo quickly find themselves under suspicion by the police — and that’s only the beginning. With MI5 and the criminals themselves closing in, Zara must navigate a deadly game of cat-and-mouse while trying to clear her name and protect her friend.

Performances

Sophie Turner anchors the series with a nuanced portrayal of Zara — a character who transforms from complacent office worker to a quick-thinking survivor under extreme pressure. Turner’s performance is both believable and engaging, making Zara’s evolution compelling to watch. Archie Madekwe brings depth to Luke, capturing the character’s growing paranoia and inability to cope as the situation spirals.

Jacob Fortune-Lloyd stands out as Detective Chief Inspector Rhys, a principled investigator battling his own gambling demons. His dynamic with Zara and Luke adds another layer of intrigue to the narrative.

Behind the Scenes

With Sotiris Nikias at the helm as creator and writer, Steal blends tight plotting with escalating tension. Directors Hettie Macdonald and Sam Miller keep the momentum high, while editors Sofie Alonzi and Matthew Tabern ensure each scene flows seamlessly. Despite being confined largely to office and home interiors, the production team crafts a visually engaging atmosphere, with Lochmill Capital’s cold corporate setting serving as the stage for thrilling set pieces.

The six-episode format works in the show’s favor, avoiding filler and ensuring the mystery unravels at a brisk pace. Each chapter inches closer to revealing the true mastermind, keeping audiences hooked until the final moments.

Final Verdict

Steal is an addictive, high-stakes thriller that thrives on its tight storytelling, strong performances, and unrelenting tension. It doesn’t rely on flashy locations or an ensemble packed with star power — instead, it focuses on character-driven suspense and a plot that refuses to let go. Sophie Turner carries the series with ease, delivering a performance that will resonate with fans of gritty, intelligent heist dramas.

If you enjoy twisty thrillers with a binge-worthy format — Steal is one you won’t want to miss.
