Netflix has unveiled the trailer for the highly anticipated third and final season of Squid Game.

In this new season, Gi-hun, known as Player 456 (played by Lee Jung-jae), is determined to put an end to the horrific game, especially after witnessing the murder of his closest friend, Jung-bae (portrayed by Lee Seo-hwan), at the hands of the Front Man (played by Lee Byung-hun) in the previous season’s finale.

The trailer reveals Gi-hun grappling with the painful revelation of the Front Man’s true identity, which viewers are already aware of: In-ho, who masqueraded as a fellow competitor and Gi-hun’s ally in Season 2. In a frantic moment, Gi-hun confronts a group of guards, demanding to know, “Why didn’t you kill me? Why did you keep me alive? Why did you let me live?” The guards eventually subdue him, while In-ho looks on.

Since its debut on Netflix in September 2021, Squid Game has taken the world by storm. The first season ranks as the second most-watched television season in Netflix history, while the second season secured the third spot after its premiere in December 2024. The only title surpassing it in viewership is the first season of Wednesday.

Squid Game was created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, who serves as its writer, director, and producer. In addition to Lee Jung-jae and Lee Byung-hun, the cast features Yim Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Wi Ha-jun, Park Gyu-young, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Kang Ae-sim, Jo Yuri, Lee David, and Roh Jae-won.

The trailer was premiered at Tudum, Netflix’s annual fan event, in Los Angeles on Saturday, where cast members Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, Park Sung-hoon, Kang Ae-sim, and Choi Seung-hyun, also known as T.O.P, were present.
