The Hindi adaptation of the Israeli series Magpie, titled Kankhajura, will premiere on Sony LIV May 30th and the teaser released today looks very promising.
Sony LIV’s upcoming thriller, KanKhajura, promises a haunting descent into the shadowy underbelly of Goa. The teaser for this Hindi adaptation of the acclaimed Israeli series Magpie evokes a sense of unsettling quietude, where hidden secrets and simmering guilt threaten to erupt into deadly drama. The show reimagines the original with a distinctly Indian sensibility, exploring the raw emotional intensity of two estranged brothers forced to confront their traumatic past. As the line between memory and reality blurs, they find themselves trapped in a prison of their own making – their memories.
Actor Roshan Mathew, who portrays Ashu, describes the show’s emotional depth and the stillness that masks underlying chaos. He highlights Ashu’s complex character – fragile yet possessing a hidden strength – and the compelling dynamics of the fractured relationships at the heart of the narrative.
Directed by Chandan Arora and produced by Ajay Rai, KanKhajura boasts a strong ensemble cast including Mohit Raina, Sarah Jane Dias, Mahesh Shetty, Ninad Kamat, Trinetra Haldar, Heeba Shah, and Usha Nadkarni. Licensed from yes Studios and based on the original series created by Adam Bizanski, Omri Shenhar, and Dana Eden (produced by Donna and Shula Productions), KanKhajura delivers a gripping exploration of fractured families, betrayal, and the precarious balance between guilt and survival. The show promises a suspenseful journey into the dark heart of human relationships and the enduring power of the past.
