The trailer for Amazon MX Player’s Pyar, Paisa, Profit showcases the ambitions, heartbreaks, and relentless hustle associated with life at a venture capital firm.
Amazon MX Player, the free video streaming platform from Amazon, has announced its new youth drama Pyar, Paisa, Profit, inspired by Durjoy Datta’s bestselling novel, Now That You’re Rich…Let’s Fall In Love. The newly released trailer hints at a tumultuous journey through the highs and lows that characterize working in a VC firm. The series, created by Mamta Patnaik in partnership with Durjoy Datta and Sumrit Shahi and directed by Prashant Singh—famous for Jabariya Jodi and Dehati Ladke—is produced by Yash A. Patnaik of Inspire Films Limited. Featuring a talented cast including Mihir Ahuja, RJ Mahvash, Neil Bhoopalam, Shivangi Khedkar, and Ashish Raghav, Pyar, Paisa, Profit will be available for free streaming on Amazon MX Player starting May 7th.
The trailer provides a sneak peek into the dazzling yet ruthless environment of one of Mumbai’s leading VC firms, where Abhijeet, a talented young man from a small town in Delhi, enters the competitive race for a lifestyle he’s only admired in prestigious magazines. Alongside him are Saurabh, Shruti, and Garima, each propelled by motivations of passion, ambition, or urgency. Their lives undergo dramatic transformations when they secure the nation’s most desired jobs, complete with luxurious perks and designer benefits. However, this lavish lifestyle comes with significant challenges. As they grapple with merciless bosses, tricky office dynamics, forbidden attractions, and looming job insecurities, their friendships are tested, and their ethics are pushed to the edge. When money—the very force that unites them—begins to drive them apart, survival becomes their sole objective.
Amogh Dusad, Head of Content at Amazon MX Player, commented on the series, “We are dedicated to showcasing narratives that resonate with the ambitions, challenges, and emotions of India’s youth. Pyar, Paisa, Profit captures the essence of a generation navigating the tumult of aspiration, love, and survival in a fiercely competitive environment. It’s vibrant, fast-paced, and inherently relatable, and we’re thrilled to share it with audiences throughout India, free of charge.”
Mihir Ahuja, who portrays Abhijeet, noted, “What attracted me to this show was its genuine depiction of what occurs when your aspirations begin to materialize, albeit with sacrifices. Abhijeet finds himself torn between his modest beginnings and the glamorous world of venture capitalism in Mumbai. He’s intelligent, optimistic, and aspires for greatness, but soon realizes that lofty ambitions come with unanticipated trade-offs. Bringing this character to life felt like reflecting the experiences of an entire generation struggling with expectations, desires, and self-identity.”
RJ Mahvash, making her debut as Garima, described her character: “Garima is fierce, unapologetic, and has deep emotions beneath her tough facade. She knows how to thrive in a competitive environment yet is on a quest for something genuine, be it success or love. One of the most intriguing aspects of the show is how her vulnerabilities are presented not as weaknesses, but as forms of strength. Pyar, Paisa, Profit beautifully illustrates how personal and professional lives intertwine in complex and captivating ways, and I believe the audience will resonate with this narrative.”
Yash A Patnaik, Founder and Managing Director of Inspire Films Limited, expressed, “We have always championed stories that capture the real, intricate, emotional lives of young Indians. With Pyar, Paisa, Profit, we delve into the fiercely competitive realm of VC firms from the perspective of first-time job seekers. It has been a delight collaborating with Durjoy Datta and Sumrit Shahi, alongside Amazon MX Player, to present this emotionally compelling story that reflects the realities of today’s youth in a light-hearted manner. We are confident it will resonate with audiences nationwide.”
