Prime Video has launched the emotionally rich and delightfully quirky trailer for its upcoming original series Maa Ka Sum, set to debut globally on April 3. The series, crafted with warmth and originality, follows the story of a brilliant young mind who believes every emotion can be reduced to numbers—until life proves otherwise.
Helmed by acclaimed director Nicholas Kharkongor and produced by Babita Ashiwal under Eunoia Films, Maa Ka Sum blends intelligence with heart, offering a fresh narrative in the landscape of Indian digital storytelling. Penned by Ravinder Randhawa and Sumrit Shahi, the series stars Mona Singh, Mihir Ahuja, Angira Dhar, and chef Ranveer Brar in pivotal roles. Available in Hindi with subtitles in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam, the show will stream exclusively on Prime Video across India and more than 240 countries.
When Math Meets the Heart: The Story Behind Maa Ka Sum
At the core of Maa Ka Sum is Agastya (Mihir Ahuja), a 19-year-old math genius who lives by the belief that “mathematics and love follow the same equation.” Convinced that logic can decode even the most complex emotions, he launches “Project Mom”—a mission to find the perfect life partner for his single mother, Vinita (Mona Singh).
With the help of Ira (Angira Dhar), a mysterious new math professor, Agastya develops an algorithm designed to calculate romantic compatibility. But as feelings begin to develop and relationships grow more intricate, his rigid formulas start to fail. The series cleverly explores how human emotions defy calculation, weaving humor, tenderness, and unexpected twists into a narrative that resonates deeply with audiences.
Director and Cast Share Their Journey
Director Nicholas Kharkongor described Maa Ka Sum as a genre-defying story. “It’s not just a family drama or a coming-of-age tale—it’s a celebration of relationships seen through the lens of logic,” he said. He praised Mihir Ahuja’s intensity and Mona Singh’s natural charm, highlighting how the cast brought authenticity to this innovative concept.
Mona Singh, portraying the graceful and resilient Vinita, called the role transformative. “Vinita is bold, vulnerable, and real. Her relationship with her son is built on trust and friendship—a dynamic rarely showcased with such honesty.”
