Netflix has officially dropped the highly anticipated trailer for its upcoming original series, Big Mistakes, giving audiences their first dramatic glimpse into the world crafted by Emmy Award-winning writer and actor Dan Levy. The new show, which sees Levy not only as its creator but also as a star, promises a compelling dive into the perilous realm of organized crime through an unexpected lens.

A Plunge into Perilous Choices

The narrative of Big Mistakes centers on two seemingly ordinary siblings whose lives take a drastic and dangerous turn. Unaware of the true owners, they inadvertently steal from a powerful crime family, subsequently finding themselves embroiled in a high-stakes game of survival. Blackmailed and desperate, the duo must navigate the treacherous underworld to retrieve what they took, or face severe repercussions. The trailer masterfully sets this tone, opening with Levy’s character, Nicky, engaging in a mundane church service, only to quickly pivot to a harrowing scene where he and his sister are held at gunpoint, underscoring the sudden and dramatic shift in their fortunes.

Dan Levy’s Bold New Creative Chapter

Big Mistakes marks a significant milestone for Dan Levy, as it is his second original scripted series he has penned, following the immense global success of the beloved, multiple Emmy-winning comedy Schitt’s Creek. Known for his sharp writing and character development, Levy now ventures into the crime drama genre, showcasing his versatility and ambition as a storyteller. This project is poised to demonstrate a different facet of his creative range, moving from heartwarming comedy to a tension-filled thriller.

An Ensemble of Acclaimed Talent

The series boasts an impressive and extensive cast, bringing together a wealth of acting talent to bring this intricate story to life. The ensemble includes Laurie Metcalf (Scream 7, Monster The Ed Gein Story), Dan Levy (Standing By, Good Grief), Taylor Ortega (Universal Basic Guys, The Four Seasons), Abby Quinn (Jean, What Would Jesus Do?), Jack Innanen (Adults, The Office Movers), Boran Kuzum (Thank You, Next, Adresi Olmayan Ev), Jacob Gutierrez (Joan and the Rolling Stone, Dear Edward), John Noble Barrack (Catalogue of Noses, Don’t Write Me Off!), Patsy Meck (Mare of Easttown, Big Time Adolescence), Darren Goldstein (Memory of a Killer, Easy Money: The Charles Ponzi Story), Charlton Lamar (Anora, Marry Me), Renan Pacheco (Extra Lucide, Fatal Game), Lynne Koplitz (Bupkis, Fourth of July), James Ciccone (The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins, The Beauty), Leah Curney (Song Sung Blue, Gossip Girl), Onie Watlington (Killing Mary Sue, The Equalizer), Tanya Perez (Evil, The Homemade Sketch Show), Frankie Montero (Beggarman, Tyler), Maria Cabral (Reborn, Grown), Ava Aagaard (Big Mistakes, Chicago Fire), Elizabeth Perkins (The Housemaid, Another Simple Favor), and Rachel Sennott (I Love LA, The Moment). This diverse and celebrated group promises dynamic performances across the board.

Building Anticipation for a 2026 Premiere

Publicity for Big Mistakes has been subtly building, notably through a mysterious billboard erected on L.A.’s iconic Sunset Boulevard. Featuring an intriguing necklace and the cryptic release date “4.9.26,” the campaign successfully piqued curiosity long before the official trailer release. All suspense culminates on April 9, 2026, when Big Mistakes is set to premiere globally on Netflix. Until then, fans can head over to YouTube to immerse themselves in the newly released official trailer and prepare for what promises to be an unforgettable new series.
