Former WWE star Killer Kross, known off-screen as Kevin Robert Kesar, has achieved a major milestone in his creative career. On Monday, Kross revealed that his short drama film, Blue Evening, has officially qualified for consideration at the 98th Academy Awards in the prestigious Live Action Short Film category.
After parting ways with WWE in August 2025, Kross re-established himself on the independent wrestling scene while also expanding into film production. In Blue Evening, he serves both as an executive producer and a member of the cast. The project was helmed and scripted by filmmaker Jett Jansen Fernandez and features performances from Gustavo J. Ramirez, Sari Sanchez, and Sammy Horowitz.
About Blue Evening
The short film centers on a homeless addict in Los Angeles who unexpectedly discovers a misplaced masterpiece in a second-hand store. This chance encounter sets him on a gripping and emotional journey toward redemption, survival, and self-discovery.
Since its completion, Blue Evening has been making waves across the global film festival circuit, earning a series of nominations and garnering strong praise from critics and audiences alike.
Killer Kross’ Reaction
In a celebratory post on X (formerly Twitter), Kross shared the news with excitement:
“BLUE EVENING is Oscars Qualified! We are officially in consideration for the 98th Academy Awards in the Live Action Short Film category. Huge thanks to our incredible cast, crew, and all the festival audiences who have embraced our film.”
Reflecting on the journey, Kross explained how the project began as a small, personal collaboration among friends and evolved into a story that resonates with viewers and industry professionals worldwide.
He expressed gratitude toward everyone involved in bringing the film to life — from the actors and production team to festival organizers who championed the short and recognized its storytelling power.
Looking Ahead
Kross concluded his message with a heartfelt acknowledgment of what this achievement means to him:
“Being considered at this level is a tremendous honor. No matter the outcome, the journey of Blue Evening has been extraordinary. For Academy members, it would mean the world if you considered our film in the Live Action Short Film category.”
With both wrestling and cinematic accomplishments to his name, Killer Kross proves he’s more than just an in-ring performer. Blue Evening may now be on the radar of Academy voters — and could soon add “Oscar nominee” to his growing list of achievements.
