Disney Plus is placing major confidence in its upcoming K-drama Made in Korea, led by stars Hyun Bin and Jung Woo-sung. In a rare move, the streaming platform has already renewed the show for a second season—even before Season 1 has aired—showcasing strong belief in both the project’s potential and the powerhouse cast.

The first season of Made in Korea is scheduled to premiere this December, but industry insiders report that work on Season 2 has already begun. The series is particularly noteworthy as it builds upon the 2018 hit film Drug King, directed by Woo Min-ho, who is also helming the drama.

The early renewal was confirmed by sources to OSEN News, though no specific details about the second season’s plot or additional cast members have been disclosed. Still, the news has generated significant buzz, leaving fans eager not only for the show’s debut but also for what lies ahead in its continuation.

Interestingly, Hyun Bin himself had hinted at these developments earlier this year. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, the Crash Landing on You star confirmed that Season 2 was already in the works and even mentioned that filming is set to start this fall. He suggested that the follow-up season could be released shortly after Season 1’s December premiere.

Set against the gritty backdrop of 1970s South Korea, the drama follows Paik Ki-tae, played by Hyun Bin, an ambitious figure determined to climb the ranks of power. His adversary, prosecutor Jang Keon-young (Jung Woo-sung), becomes the force determined to stop him, setting the stage for a gripping battle.

Alongside the two leads, the ensemble cast includes Won Ji-an, Seo Eun-soo, Cho Yeo-jeong, and Jung Sung-il. With acclaimed director Woo Min-ho at the helm, expectations are especially high, as he previously directed The Drug King, the very film from which this series spins off.

Beyond Made in Korea, Hyun Bin and Woo Min-ho recently collaborated on the historical film Harbin, which had its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival. The movie highlights the daring exploits of Korean independence fighters who devised a bold mission against Japanese colonial forces, with the goal of assassinating Ito Hirobumi, Japan’s first prime minister.

With Disney Plus renewing Made in Korea for a second season before audiences have even seen the first, anticipation has reached new heights. A stellar cast, a celebrated director, and a compelling story rooted in history all point toward the drama becoming one of the most talked-about K-dramas of the year.
