Off the mark thriller

“Hacked”, the movie featuring Hina Khan and directed by Vikram Bhatt streaming now on Zee5 digital platform is a take on how hacking can devastate any life especially those who are active on social networking platforms.
Sameera Khanna (Hina Khan) falls prey to one such psychopath hacker, the 19 year old Vivek (Rohan Shah) making her life topsy-turvy. Vivek bugs the whole house of Sameera and follows her movements by hacking all the electronic gadgets she use and hacking her social media accounts.
The life of Sameera which is going on pretty smoothly, with a successful career as an editor of a popular elite magazine and a buoyant love life with famous actor Om Kapoor (Siddharth Makkar) lands up in a bigger mess with the entry of Vivek who had a crush on Sameera. Being a neighbor, Vivek keeps a tab on all the movements of Sameera and her daily habits so that it becomes easier for him to hack.
It’s an arduous task for Sameera to detect the evil motives of Vivek and prevent him from doing more damage to her career and life as he even intrudes into the bank accounts and private lives of cyber security experts so there is no other way left for Sameera except to think and plan something different to save her.
Rohan (Mohit Malhotra) who is another neighbor friend lends helping hand to the damsel in distress Sameera at this critical juncture and both team together to find out the plans of Vivek and put an end to the ordeal.
It’s Hina Khan who steals the show with her sensuous as well as sensible performance and played a significant role in sustaining the interest among audience by displaying an array of emotions in this slightly off the mark thriller.
On the other hand Rohan Shah too had contributed well with a near perfect performance as an evil hacker and his character presents the other dark side of digital world in a very convincing manner.
Vikram Bhatt’s story and direction are somewhat clichéd and fail to create the much required impact on the audience. But the message is clear and relevant, the technology which we use and all these digital paraphernalia need to be used judiciously and with care as danger lurks in every corner and any carelessness and negligence will invoke the danger of getting hacked. So be careful!
