Adolescence focuses on a family, whose life takes a drastic turn after their 13-year-old Jamie Miller is arrested for the murder of a teenage girl. In a recent interview, the creators of Adolescence talked about the possibility of making a second season.
While speaking to Variety about the possibility of Adolescence Season 2, creator Stephen Graham shared, “Possibly, let’s see how the figures are. But yeah, there’s the possibility of developing another story.”
Owen Cooper played the role of Jamie Miller, who is accused of murdering a teenager. The show’s co-creator Stephen Graham is seen as Jamie’s father, Ashley Walters as Detective Inspector Luke Bascombe and Erin Doherty as the clinical psychologist.
There were speculations that Adolescence is based on a real story but Stephen clarified those rumours. Earlier, while speaking to Netflix, he revealed that Adolescence is not exactly based on any real person or event but he got the idea for the show from some new reports.
He shared, “There was an incident where a young boy [allegedly] stabbed a girl. It shocked me. I was thinking, ‘What’s going on? What’s happening in society where a boy stabs a girl to death? What’s the inciting incident here?’ And then it happened again, and it happened again, and it happened again. I really just wanted to shine a light on it, and ask, ‘Why is this happening today? What’s going on? How have we come to this?’”
Directed by Philip Barantini, Adolescence is co-created and written by Graham and Jack Thorne. The show has been shot in a single take which makes it as a technical masterpiece too.
