Not so dirtiest conflict between love and love with lust

This film has got more unwanted publicity than expected before release due to protests against the obscene and indecent posters displayed at public places. What about loads of porn that is discreetly available on the internet?

Dirty Hari is produced and directed by M.S.Raju who produced many blockbusters in Telugu like Manasantha Nuvve, Okkadu, Varsham, and Nuvvostanante Nenoddantana and many others which are also remade into other languages. He has donned the role of director with the films Tuneega Tuneega and Vaana tasting moderate success and Dirty Hari is his third attempt as director which is streaming on Friday Movies ATT in pay per movie format and also on Aha Video from December 25, 2020.

Story-line

Hari (Sharavan Reddy) who comes to the city to make it big joins as a chess coach in a club meets Akash (Roshan Basheer) the nephew of a rich businessman Appaji Ambarisha Darba. Their chance encounter becomes friendship which paves the way for Hari to get closer to Vasudha (Ruhani Sharma) the only daughter of Appaji while Akash gets hooked on to upcoming model and actor Jasmine (Simrat Kaur). Hari went on to win the hearts of the family members of Akash very soon and marries Vasudha to become the apparent heir to all their businesses.

Meanwhile, Hari’s attraction towards the sensual Jasmine gets doubled after her break up with Akash. The lust of Hari consumes Jasmine who in turn falls in love with him completely throwing her into a desperate stage to share life with Hari.

Hari gets into a dilemma as to how he should convince Vasudha about his extramarital relationship with Jasmine as he doesn’t want to sacrifice his luxurious life by getting separated from Vasudha. How he overcomes this dilemma and what Jasmine and Vasudha decide to do is the latter part of the story.

Performances

All the actors have come out with decent performances. Shravan Reddy performs well despite limitations in dialogue delivery and accent which plays spoilsport at times. The slang and forced Telangana accent sounds out of place in some scenes involving Simrat and Shravan. The bold character of Jasmine played by Simrat got spoiled by some insensible dialogues and scenes otherwise her performance as a young girl who is high on self-confidence is breezy and creates the right impact on the narrative.

Appaji, Roshan, Surekha Vani, Mahesh, and Ajay (in a cameo) are good in their respective roles but the character of Vasudha played by Ruhani should have been a shade better than what it was in the film.

Behind the scenes

The producer in M.S.Raju has dominated the director in him as a result he wanted to make Dirty Hari more attractive commercially rather than aesthetically. Therefore, it has turned out to be an erotic thriller due to the inclusion of some intimate love-making scenes and extra skin show whose tone should have been trimmed down as some of them are not so essential to the flow of the story.

Raju is successful in steering his script with a good command by keeping all the elements intact and sustaining the interest of the audience till the end. His efficiency gets established in the climax which can be rated as the highest point of the film and he deserves a good round of applause for his deft handling of the climax.

The background score by Mark K Robin is alright with the song Let’s Make Love sensuously sung by Manisha Eerabathini stands as the highlight while the cinematography of M.N. Baalreddy fits the bill.

Verdict

The conflict between love and love out of lust was very well presented but not in so dirtiest way as presumed and the character of Hari with his flaws, weaknesses, fears, vulnerabilities, and oversized ambitions is quite typical and it was shaped well reflecting his aversive ways of behavior.

Dirty Hari which resembles Match Point starring Scarlett Johansson is a can watch movie except for some cuss words and bold scenes which are quite common in OTT shows these days as it touches the untapped genre of erotic thriller in Telugu where there is scope to do something fresh with the OTT providing the right kind of platform to encourage such new and bold content preferably in a subdued manner with more thrill and less eroticism.
