Arrived on Apple TV+ this October 10, 2025, The Last Frontier delivers a pulse-pounding descent into chaos with its gripping narrative and frostbitten atmosphere. This 10-episode original series blends high-stakes action, psychological tension, and survival drama against the backdrop of Alaska’s unforgiving winter. Led by Jason Clarke (Pet Sematary, Zero Dark Thirty) as US Marshal Frank Remnick, the show plunges viewers into a remote frontier where law and order are tested by nature—and human savagery.
When a high-security prisoner transport plane crashes deep within Remnick’s isolated jurisdiction, what begins as a routine emergency response turns into a desperate manhunt. Survivors include some of the nation’s most dangerous criminals—violent, cunning, and now loose in the frozen wilderness. As Remnick scrambles to track them down, the fugitives spread out, endangering the small community he’s sworn to protect—including his wife, Sarah Remnick (Simone Kessell), and their son, Luke (Tait Blum).
Created by Jon Bokenkamp and Richard D’Ovidio, the masterminds behind The Blacklist, The Last Frontier channels the gritty, suspense-driven tone of 1990s thrillers. Think Con Air’s airborne intensity meets the moral decay and paranoia of A Simple Plan. Only here, the wreckage lands on snow-covered ground, unleashing a far more unpredictable threat: criminals surviving—and thriving—in the wild.
The ensemble cast adds depth and danger. Dominic Cooper (Preacher) plays Levi Hartman, a former Navy SEAL turned fugitive with a volatile agenda. Haley Bennett (Swallow) stars as CIA operative Sidney Scofield, monitoring the fallout from Washington. Veteran actor Alfre Woodard commands the screen as senior analyst Jacque Bradford, while Clifton Collins Jr., Johnny Knoxville, Dallas Goldtooth, and Rusty Schwimmer round out a powerhouse lineup of law enforcers and outlaws.
Directed by stunt veteran Sam Hargrave (Extraction) and John Curran, among others, the series promises cinematic action and atmospheric storytelling. The premiere episode, Blue Skies, co-written by the creators, sets a tense, relentless tone—followed by Winds of Change, which expands the scope of the crisis.
With new episodes rolling out weekly every Friday, the season builds toward a harrowing climax, culminating in the finale, Everything Trying, written by Bokenkamp and D’Ovidio.
As temperatures drop, The Last Frontier offers the perfect blend of chills—both literal and psychological—for your fall viewing.
