Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce are officially engaged!
The couple shared this exciting news on August 26 through an Instagram post featuring a series of images of them in a garden, where Kelce proposed to Swift. The “Cruel Summer” singer playfully captioned the post, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are tying the knot,” followed by a firecracker emoji.
The images also showcased a close-up of Swift’s engagement ring, which was designed by Kelce in collaboration with Kindred Lubeck from Artifex Fine Jewelry, as reported by Vogue. The ring features a stunning brilliant-cut diamond set in gold.
In the post, Swift incorporated the song “So High School,” a track that captures the feeling of youthful romance. The lyrics, “You know how to ball/I know Aristotle,” led many fans to believe they reference her connection with Kelce.
This engagement is a significant moment in one of the most closely followed romances in pop culture. Dating rumors began swirling in 2023 after Kelce recounted his unsuccessful attempt to gift Swift a friendship bracelet with his phone number during her July 2023 concert in Kansas City, Missouri. “I was bummed that she didn’t chat before or after the show because she needed to preserve her voice for the 44 songs she performs,” Kelce shared during a July episode on his New Heights podcast. “I felt a bit hurt that I couldn’t give her one of the bracelets I had made.”
The story gained traction rapidly, and by the end of September, Swift was seen supporting him at a Chiefs game. Their blossoming romance quickly became a sensation, drawing attention from both Swifties and NFL fans with every public appearance. Notable moments included Swift celebrating on the field following the Chiefs’ Super Bowl victory in February 2024 and joining Kelce on stage for her song “I Can Do It With a Broken Heart” during a June 2024 stop on her Eras Tour.
Both Swift and Kelce have openly praised each other in interviews. While discussing her relationship in a 2023 Time magazine interview, Swift remarked on the joys of being public about their relationship, stating, “When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, and we’re supporting each other. It’s the opposite of hiding away to keep things secret, and we’re just proud of what we share.”
In an interview with GQ in August 2025, Kelce echoed her feelings, expressing, “When the cameras aren’t around, we’re simply two people deeply in love. It might look different due to the media’s focus, but our connection developed naturally despite the attention.”
Recently, Kelce aided Swift in unveiling her latest album, The Life of a Showgirl, during an episode of the podcast he co-hosts with his brother, Jason Kelce. They gave “Swelce” fans a glimpse into their relationship, including Swift’s reaction when she discovered the backstory behind Kelce’s friendship bracelet attempt.
“I thought, if this guy isn’t insane—which is a big if—this is exactly what I’ve been dreaming of since I was a teenager,” Swift reflected.
While he may not have successfully placed a friendship bracelet on her wrist, he ultimately sealed the deal by placing a ring on her finger.
