The critically acclaimed romantic crime drama Rasavathi (The Alchemist), directed by Santhakumar, has achieved a significant milestone by securing nominations in five categories for the International competition section at the Nice International Film Festival in France. The film stars Arjun Das and Tanya Ravichandran in leading roles.
Director Santhakumar announced this exciting news on his X timeline, expressing his gratitude with the message, “Respect and recognition for a Tamil film ‘RASAVATHI’ from FRANCE. Officially selected for the International competition in five categories. #Rasavathi.”
Rasavathi has garnered international recognition, having received numerous accolades at various film festivals worldwide. Notably, actor Arjun Das earned the Best Actor award at the 15th Dada Saheb Phalke Film Festival for his portrayal of Sadasiva Pandiyan, a Siddha doctor. The film stood out among over 700 entries at the festival in 2025.
In addition to this, Arjun Das also claimed the Best Actor award at the New Jersey Indian and International Film Festival in 2024 for his performance in Rasavathi. Earlier this year, the film was honored with the Best Sound Design award at the London International Film Festival 2025, where sound engineer Tapas Nayak’s exceptional work triumphed over nine competing films, including titles like Nobody Wants to Shoot a Woman and The Chocolate Club.
Aside from Arjun Das and Tanya Ravichandran, Rasavathi features a talented ensemble cast that includes Sujith Shankar, Ramya Subramanian, G.M. Sundar, Reshma Venkatesh, Sujatha, and Rishikanth.
The film’s captivating music was composed by SS Thaman, marking the third collaboration between him and director Santhakumar. The cinematography was handled by Saravanan Elavarasu and Sivakumar, while V J Sabu Joseph took care of the film’s editing. The dance choreography was done by Sathish Krishnan, with art direction led by Sivaraj and sound effects by Sethu. Sound mixing was expertly managed by Tapas Nayak.
