Sekhar Chandra has composed the music, while T Vinod Raja has handled the cinematography, and Sarath Kumar has edited the film. Produced by Kishore Garikipati under the SkyLine Movies banner, Show Time is a crime thriller that tells the story of a middle-class family whose lives are drastically altered by a murder. Presenter Anil Sunkara sounded very optimistic about the success of this film during his latest interaction with media and let’s check how his expectations are met. https://snooper-scope.in/show-time-will-not-disappoint-producer-anil-sunkara/
Story
The narrative revolves around Surya (Naveen Chandra) and his wife Shanti (Kamakshi Bhaskarla), whose peaceful life is disrupted by a shocking event late one night. As the story unfolds, it becomes connected to CI Lakshmikanth (Raja Ravindra) and lawyer Varadarajulu (VK Naresh), forming an interesting part of the narrative.
Performances
Naveen Chandra delivers a sincere and polite performance, showcasing good emotions and expressions. VK Naresh brings a comedic element to the film, creating a laughing riot with his performance, although he occasionally goes overboard. Raja Ravindra makes a good impact as a police officer, sporting a serious look that adds intensity to the screen. Kamakshi Bhaskarla does justice to her role, while Gemini Suresh is effective in a comical role. However, most of the other performances are laid-back and lacking in enthusiasm.
Behind the scenes
The story of Show Time is penned by director Madan Dakshinamurthy, who attempts to present it in an engaging manner. The entire story takes place within a day, with the first half wrapping up in just one and a half hours. The entry of Naresh brings a twist and some hilarious elements to the narrative. Although the director shows creativity in confining the story to one room, the film could have benefited from more humor, suspense, and powerful twists.
The dialogues written by Gavireddy Srinivas are good but could be more impactful. The cinematography by T Vinod Raja is decent, while Sekhar Chandra’s background score adds spice to the story. Sarath Kumar’s editing is average, and the production values are decent.
Final Verdict
Show Time turns out to be a silly and crass entertainer. Despite having a seasoned performer like Naveen Chandra, director Madhan Dakshinamurthy fails to deliver a decent entertainer. The story is weak, with the first half filled with senseless scenes and bland narration. The laid-back performances of the actors, except for the lead pair, do not help the cause. The film is mediocre, with poorly written dialogues. The director fails to do justice to his idea, and Naveen Chandra should have insisted on a racier screenplay and powerful script to create a lasting impact.
