Ritwik Bhowmik, who gained significant fame through his transformative role in Bandish Bandits, is set to make his much-anticipated feature film debut in Abhootpurva (translated as “Unprecedented”). This film, described as a Rom-Hor-Com—a blend of romance, horror, and comedy—promises to bring a new narrative experience to audiences. In addition to Bhowmik, the cast will feature seven acclaimed actors and one prominent actress, with the full lineup to be announced in a comprehensive reveal early next month.

Abhootpurva offers a heartfelt cinematic journey set in Agra during the 1990s. The storyline artfully combines the innocence of first love, the vibrancy of small-town life, and an unexpected supernatural twist. Music plays a pivotal role in shaping the story, evoking nostalgia from the era and enhancing the film’s emotional depth.

Expressing his excitement, Ritwik remarked, “This script struck me as incredibly original from the moment I heard it. It resonates like a beautiful dream—filled with love, innocence, and those unforgettable moments.” Producer Khyati Madaan added, “Filmed in the backdrop of 90s Agra, this movie captures love in its purest form, seasoned with humor, nostalgia, and a touch of the supernatural. Having Ritwik making his debut with us on this project is particularly special.”

To encapsulate the film’s essence, the producers issued a poetic statement hinting at a romance that intertwines themes of life, death, and rebirth—an experience that is “never told, never heard.”

Directed by Khyati Madaan’s Not Out Entertainment and Sumit Kumar Mishra, production for the film is scheduled to commence in November 2025. This marks Not Out Entertainment’s second major announcement this year, following the release of Ahan Shetty’s latest horror film inspired by a national tragedy.

With Abhootpurva, Ritwik Bhowmik transitions from successful OTT series like The Whistleblower, Modern Love Mumbai, and Maja Ma to the big screen, stepping into a project that is expected to be both unconventional and cinematic.
