Tampa, FL – Football fans won’t want to miss this. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced the release of Raise the Flags: 50 Years of Buccaneers Football, a brand-new, 10-episode Prime Original sports documentary, made its exclusive debut on Amazon Prime Video Thursday — coinciding with the team’s clash against the Atlanta Falcons on Thursday Night Football.
The ambitious project is the vision of Buccaneers co-owner Ed Glazer, who served as executive producer, and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Trent Cooper, acclaimed for his character-driven sports storytelling. Co-produced by Skydance Sports in collaboration with Prime Video Sports, the series offers the most comprehensive visual history of the franchise ever created.
According to Glazer, the goal was simple: to celebrate “the people, perseverance, and passion” that have shaped the Buccaneers over five decades. The series explores the team’s early struggles, legendary comebacks, landmark decisions, and unforgettable championship triumphs.
From the infamous 0-26 start to the team’s surprise surge to playoff contention in 1979, from the franchise-changing acquisition by the Glazer family to the blockbuster trade for Jon Gruden that led to Tampa Bay’s first Super Bowl victory, Raise the Flags leaves no milestone untouched. Fans will also relive the drafting and rise of Hall of Famers John Lynch, Warren Sapp, Derrick Brooks, Ronde Barber and the record-breaking career of Mike Evans, along with the franchise’s second championship run in Super Bowl LV after signing NFL icon Tom Brady.
Cooper’s production team conducted over 100 interviews with past and present players, coaches, executives, media members, and staff, weaving together first-hand accounts with rare archival footage and newly uncovered behind-the-scenes stories.
“I grew up a Bucs fan, but even I discovered stories that completely surprised me,” Cooper shared. “This series captures the grit, heartbreak, and community spirit that make the Buccaneers’ journey so compelling.”
Raise the Flags will be available nationwide to Prime members for streaming on any supported device starting December 11, and will also air on NFL Network during summer 2025 — ensuring fans have multiple ways to experience the saga of one of the NFL’s most resilient franchises.
For Bucs fans and football historians alike, this is more than just a sports documentary — it’s a front-row seat to half a century of grit, glory, and unforgettable moments in Tampa Bay football history.
