The curtain has finally risen on the first official trailer for Pretty Lethal, the highly anticipated action-thriller coming soon to Prime Video. Featuring a powerhouse duo in Uma Thurman and Lana Condor, the film promises a unique blend of high-stakes choreography and visceral survival tactics. Directed by Vicky Jewson—widely recognized for her work on Close—this stylized feature is set to make its grand debut at the 2026 South by Southwest (SXSW) Film & TV Festival on March 13th, followed by its global streaming premiere on March 25th.
A Deadly Performance in the Wilderness
The narrative of Pretty Lethal centers on a group of five elite ballerinas en route to the prestigious “Budapest Showcase,” a career-defining event reserved for the world’s most talented dancers. However, internal friction and professional rivalries are pushed to the side when their transport breaks down in the heart of a desolate forest.
Seeking refuge from the elements, the quintet stumbles upon a secluded roadside inn managed by the enigmatic Devora Kasimer (portrayed by Thurman). A former ballet icon herself, Kasimer initially appears to be a kindred spirit, but the atmosphere quickly sours. The dancers soon realize that the inn is a trap, and they are being targeted by a lethal group led by their host. To survive the night, the women must pivot from the stage to the battlefield, repurposing their years of agonizing discipline and physical conditioning into a deadly arsenal.
A Star-Studded Ensemble and Creative Vision
Beyond the leading roles occupied by Thurman and Condor, the film boasts an impressive supporting cast. Audiences can expect performances from Millicent Simmonds, Iris Apatow, Maddie Ziegler, Avantika, and Michael Culkin. The screenplay, penned by Kate Freund, is brought to life by a seasoned production team including David Leitch and Kelly McCormick—renowned for their work on high-octane hits—alongside Annie Marter, Bill Bindley, Mike Karz, and Piers Tempest.
Trailer Highlights: Grace Under Fire
The newly released two-minute teaser sets an ominous tone, opening with the rigid, perfectionist world of professional dance. The footage highlights the simmering animosity between characters played by Condor and Ziegler before the scenery shifts to the eerie Kasimer’s Inn.
As the situation escalates into a fight for their lives, the trailer showcases the film’s unique hook: the “warrior” nature of the prima ballerina. In one standout moment, Ziegler’s character rallies the group, reminding them that the strength required for the stage is the same strength needed to survive. Set to a pulse-pounding remix of Snap!’s iconic track “Rhythm Is a Dancer,” the trailer concludes with a montage of high-kicking combat and improvised weaponry, proving that these dancers are as dangerous as they are disciplined.
