Prabhas Chooses Entertainment Over Excess Action in The RajaSaab

Superstar Prabhas is set to return to the big screen with The RajaSaab, a high-octane yet laughter-filled horror-comedy slated for a grand Sankranti release. Unlike many recent action-heavy blockbusters, Prabhas made a conscious choice to focus on delivering a wholesome entertainer rather than relying solely on fight sequences and stunts.

The film’s trailer, unveiled on Monday, offers a glimpse into an intriguing mix of supernatural thrills, emotional drama, and quirky humor.

A Story Rooted in Mystery and Suspense

In The RajaSaab, Prabhas takes on a unique role as the story’s central figure, with Sanjay Dutt portraying a hypnotist whose calm demeanor hides a menacing power. Zarina Wahab plays Prabhas’ beloved grandmother, adding emotional depth to the narrative.

The plot follows RajaSaab’s quest for answers, leading him to a deserted haveli that conceals chilling secrets. The trailer hints at the mansion itself becoming a psychological trap, turning one’s mind against their body. Sanjay Dutt’s character relies on manipulation and mental control rather than brute force, creating a tense and eerie atmosphere.

Prabhas’ Influence on the Film’s Direction

Opening up about his role in shaping the film, Prabhas revealed that he encouraged director Maruthi to steer away from the current trend of excessive action. “Audiences want entertainment, not just endless fight scenes,” he said. The result was a horror-comedy that promises thrills without losing its fun factor.

Prabhas praised producer TG Vishwa Prasad for supporting Maruthi’s vision throughout production. He was particularly impressed with the film’s climax, calling it “unlike anything seen before in this genre.”

A Visual Treat for Festival Season

From the trailer, The RajaSaab appears to be a VFX-heavy spectacle, featuring elaborate set designs, stylized horror visuals, and atmospheric effects that elevate its fear factor. Director Maruthi emphasized the immense effort behind the project, noting that three years of hard work went into meeting the expectations that come with having Prabhas in the lead.

“Our only aim was to entertain audiences during the festival season,” Maruthi stated confidently, adding that the film’s scale and genre make it stand out in any language.

Release Details

The RajaSaab is directed by Maruthi and produced by TG Vishwa Prasad under People Media Factory. The film will hit theatres worldwide on January 9, 2026, in five languages — Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, and Malayalam. With its blend of horror, comedy, and visual grandeur, it’s poised to be one of the most talked-about releases of the Sankranti season.
