Pixar Unveils First Look at Toy Story 5
Fans of the Toy Story universe have reason to celebrate — Pixar has officially released the teaser trailer for Toy Story 5, confirming its worldwide theatrical debut on 19 June 2026. The much-loved animated franchise, which began nearly three decades ago, is gearing up for its next chapter filled with nostalgia, heart, and fresh surprises.
A High-Tech New Face in the Toy Story Gang
According to a press release cited by Variety, the teaser introduces audiences to Lilypad, a sleek, frog-shaped smart tablet with advanced capabilities. The gadget isn’t here to help the toys — instead, it’s set to make life significantly more difficult for Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Jessie, and the rest of the crew as they face this modern-day challenge to playtime.
Actor Greta Lee lends her voice to Lilypad, marking her first role in the franchise. Alongside her, several beloved voices return: Tom Hanks as Woody, Tim Allen as Buzz Lightyear, Joan Cusack as Jessie, Blake Clark as Slinky Dog, and Tony Hale as Forky. Adding to the excitement, late-night host Conan O’Brien joins the cast as an all-new character named Smarty Pants.
Direction by Andrew Stanton
Helming Toy Story 5 is acclaimed filmmaker Andrew Stanton, best known for Finding Nemo, WALL-E, and Finding Dory. Stanton has co-written all four previous installments of the franchise, but this time, he holds sole credit for crafting the screenplay.
A Groundbreaking Franchise Legacy
The Toy Story series began in 1995, making history as the first-ever fully computer-animated feature film. The success continued with Toy Story 2 (1999), followed by Pixar’s integration into Disney in 2006. Toy Story 3 (2010) and Toy Story 4 (2019) both smashed the $1 billion mark at the global box office, each earning an Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
Pixar’s Upcoming Slate
Toy Story 5 marks Pixar’s 31st feature film. The studio’s recent release, Elio (June 2024), brought in $152 million worldwide, while Inside Out 2 became 2024’s top-grossing movie, surpassing $1.5 billion globally. Before Woody and Buzz return, audiences will see Pixar’s next original film, Hoppers, scheduled for release in March 2026.

Pixar shared the teaser on its official Instagram account, sparking excitement among fans eager to see how the series will evolve in this fifth outing. With new characters, returning favourites, and the signature Pixar charm, Toy Story 5 promises to blend nostalgia with inventive storytelling for audiences of all ages.
