Stephen King’s storytelling legacy continues to expand on screen, with a new chilling adaptation now confirmed to be in the works.
Film production company Intrinsic Value Films has officially announced they are developing a feature-length version of Mister Yummy, a haunting tale taken from King’s 2015 short story collection The Bazaar of Bad Dreams. The project marks another addition to a growing list of screen interpretations of King’s work, following recent successes such as Osgood Perkins’ The Monkey and Francis Lawrence’s The Long Walk, both praised for translating King’s narrative intensity to film.
According to industry insiders at Deadline, the screenplay for Mister Yummy will be penned by Troy Blake, with Thomas Mahoney attached as producer. While the film has yet to secure a director, casting lineup, or distribution deal, early descriptions suggest an emotionally resonant and unsettling story. The plot centers on Ollie Franklin, an older gay man facing the inevitability of death, entwined with reflections on regret and the lingering presence of past choices. The narrative promises a potent combination of psychological depth and eerie, supernatural undertones — hallmarks of King’s writing.
The announcement also coincides with Intrinsic Value Films’ upcoming presence at the American Film Market, where they will showcase multiple projects. Among them is an eagerly anticipated Gene Wilder biopic, simply titled Gene, scripted by Jeremy Roth. The studio recently secured exclusive rights to portray the beloved actor’s life, signaling a diverse production slate that extends beyond horror.
Stephen King fans have more adaptations to look forward to in the coming years. Warner Bros. Pictures is moving forward with a film based on King’s crime novel Billy Summers, first revealed in 2023, and Prime Video is preparing a series remake of King’s iconic Carrie. The latter will be helmed by Mike Flanagan, creator of The Haunting of Hill House, and promises a fresh take on the supernatural classic. Confirmed cast members for the series include Summer H. Howell, Siena Agudong, Matthew Lillard, and Samantha Sloyan.
With Mister Yummy now entering development, audiences can anticipate another complex, emotionally charged horror experience from one of literature’s most celebrated authors. As details on the film’s creative team and release window emerge, it joins a long list of adaptations proving that Stephen King’s stories remain as relevant — and terrifying — as ever.
