Marvel Studios has officially launched the first trailer for its highly anticipated series Wonder Man, marking the company’s debut television release of 2026. Headlined by Yahya Abdul-Mateen II in the role of Simon Williams, the show promises a fresh and inventive blend of Hollywood satire and superhero spectacle.
The series, set to premiere on Disney+ (and JioHotstar in India) on January 27, 2026, arrives as fans eagerly await the December release of Avengers: Doomsday. Directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, known for Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021), with Andrew Guest serving as co-director, Wonder Man spans eight episodes and offers a unique lens into the entertainment industry—complete with superhuman twists.
The trailer introduces Simon Williams, an aspiring actor stuck in the grind of show business. His fortunes change when he crosses paths with Trevor Slattery, a washed-up star portrayed once again by Ben Kingsley, reprising his role from Iron Man 3 (2013) and Shang-Chi (2021). Through Trevor, Simon learns that acclaimed filmmaker Von Kovak is remaking the in-universe superhero movie Wonder Man.
Simon soon finds himself unexpectedly gifted with extraordinary powers—including enhanced strength, rapid speed, and explosive energy abilities. Yet in the Hollywood depicted by the series, superpowers are a taboo subject—forcing Simon to conceal his abilities while navigating cutthroat auditions.
The narrative pairs Simon and Trevor—two actors at opposite points in their careers—as they chase life-altering roles. Along the way, viewers are treated to behind-the-scenes glimpses of moviemaking, peppered with sharp humor and industry satire. Supporting cast members include Demetrius Goose, Ed Harris, Arian Moayed, Lauren Glazier, Olivia Thirlby, and Zlatko Buric, adding depth and variety to the ensemble.
Marvel’s official synopsis describes Wonder Man as the story of “an aspiring Hollywood actor struggling to break into the industry, who meets a veteran performer past his prime. Together, they pursue roles in a major superhero remake, offering audiences a peek behind the curtain of filmmaking.”
With its distinctive mix of cinematic storytelling and superhero thrills, Wonder Man positions itself as one of the year’s most intriguing MCU projects. The combination of Yahya Abdul-Mateen II’s charisma, Ben Kingsley’s seasoned presence, and Destin Daniel Cretton’s creative vision makes this series a must-watch for Marvel fans and lovers of Hollywood drama alike.
