Jill Scott Returns With Her First Album in Over a Decade

Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Jill Scott is officially stepping back into the spotlight with her first studio album in more than ten years. Titled To Whom This May Concern, the highly anticipated project is set for release on February 13, just in time for Valentine’s Day, as reported by Billboard.

The new album marks Scott’s first major release since her 2015 chart-topping record Woman, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200. To Whom This May Concern is a 19-track collection that showcases Scott’s signature storytelling and rich vocal artistry while introducing a lineup of notable collaborators. The project features contributions from Ab-Soul, J.I.D, fellow Philadelphia artist Tierra Whack, and hip-hop veteran Too $hort.

A Star-Studded Production Team

Scott has assembled an impressive roster of producers for this release, including DJ Premier, Adam Blackstone, Om’Mas Keith, Camper, Andre Harris, Seige Montracity, Trombone Shorty, Eric Wortham, DW Wright, and VT Tolan. The album’s first single, “Beautiful People,” is already available, offering fans an early taste of the soulful, uplifting direction of the record.

A New Chapter for the Neo-Soul Icon

To Whom This May Concern will be released through The Orchard, marking a fresh beginning for Scott after closing her previous chapter with Atlantic Records. Announcing the project on social media, the artist expressed her gratitude to fans for their patience and support, describing the album as both “inspirational” and “deeply personal.”

During her recent appearance on the Million Dollaz Worth of Game podcast, Scott revealed that the album embodies her growth as both a person and an artist. She explained that the project captures the essence of her life experiences, emotional depth, and evolving musicianship. “There’s a lot of life in this album,” she said, noting that the process of collaboration brought new creative energy and inspiration.

Beyond the Music

In addition to her return to recording, Jill Scott continues to make her mark in the entertainment industry. She appeared as herself in a 2025 episode of Abbott Elementary and is set to star in Tyler Perry’s upcoming film Why Did I Get Married Again? later this year.

Fans can stream To Whom This May Concern starting February 13 on all major platforms. With its blend of heartfelt lyrics, soulful production, and masterful collaborations, the album promises to reaffirm Jill Scott’s place as one of the most distinctive voices in modern soul music.
