The forthcoming American documentary Melania promises an unprecedented peek into Melania Trump’s private and public life during one of the most pivotal moments in her journey — the three weeks leading up to Donald Trump’s second presidential inauguration on January 20, 2025.
Rather than focusing on political debates or campaign rhetoric, Melania shifts the lens to a quieter, more personal story: the former First Lady’s behind-the-scenes role as she prepares to step back into the national spotlight. Viewers will see her overseeing inauguration logistics, guiding the White House transition, and preparing her family for life once again in Washington, D.C.
According to reports by USA Today, the film includes candid conversations, intimate planning sessions, and access to moments never before captured on camera. Far from a high-drama political exposé, the documentary adopts a measured, personal tone, giving audiences a sense of Melania’s methodical, composed approach.
Filmed from her perspective, the narrative follows her as she makes key decisions alongside her team, balances ceremonial duties with family responsibilities, and readies her teenage son for the move back to the capital. In the teaser, Melania’s understated remark — “Here we go again” — captures both the gravity and familiarity of the moment.
Melania is directed and produced by Brett Ratner, with Melania Trump herself serving as executive producer under her newly launched production banner, Muse Films. She is joined by producer Fernando Sulichin and other collaborators. Filming commenced in December 2024, shortly after the presidential election.
The documentary’s production drew early attention in Hollywood, sparking a competitive bidding war among major studios. Ultimately, Amazon MGM Studios secured U.S. distribution rights for an estimated $40 million, outbidding Disney and Paramount. In addition to the feature-length film, Amazon MGM Studios has already begun developing a companion docuseries, expanding the project into a larger multimedia release.
The premiere is set for the prestigious Kennedy Center in Washington, D.C., followed by a nationwide theatrical release on January 30, 2026 — a date that falls just days after the Trumps’ wedding anniversary, a detail that has attracted additional media interest. Reports from The Palm Beach Post confirm these release plans.
While the documentary refrains from making political claims, it offers a rare and deeply personal portrayal of a First Lady preparing for a historic return to the White House. Through her own voice, Melania presents herself not as a political figurehead, but as a mother, wife, and planner navigating one of the most high-pressure periods of her life.
For audiences, Melania will be more than a political side note — it’s a personal portrait of resilience, composure, and preparation at the highest level of public service.
