Hostel Daze Season 1 presented the hostel life in its truest sense which revolves around ragging, girls, new friendships, heart-breaks, excitement and, whatnot. Ankit, Chirag, and Jaat along with Jhantoo started enjoying their hostel life in their first year by shedding all fears and inhibitions. Gradually, they come to terms with the reality to explore some more avenues in Season 2 of TVF’s Hostel Daze which is streaming now on Amazon Prime Video.

Story

Seriously, the two Ankit (Adarsh Gourav) and Jhantoo (Nikhil Vijay) are into ragging of a different kind making the lives of juniors miserable. Now the girls also join the gang with the matter going to the Disciplinary Committee which was fondly nicknamed as DISCO.

The entry of girls made it more complicated with Ankit going all out to impress Akanksha (Ahsaas Channa) with his lessons on hygiene and cleanliness which boomerangs initially but manages to settle down later.

Jhantoo gets bowled by the bouncer of Unnati (Kritika Deo) as also the case with Jaat (Shubham Gaur) who too gets floored by his girlfriend but later has to face a different kind of music.

What are their experiences with girls and how does these four spent their holidays once they are back in their homes needs to be seen on the screen.

Performances

All the four Nikhil Vijay, Adarsh Gaurav, Shubham Gaurav, and Luv Vispute got meaty characters with more focus on Vijay like in earlier season was more ‘bindaas’ this time and equally impressive. Luv too has done well along with Adarsh and Shubham who are in their elements.

Among the girls, Ahsaas and Kritika were good in enacting their characters while Arushi Chawla and Ayushi Gupta grab the attention in brief roles.

Even the writer Harish Peddinti appears in a cameo as Sunil Narayan and also Harsha Chemudu who reappeared as Ravi Teja were at their best.

Behind the scenes

There ae some very fine rib-tickling one-liners like ‘product is good but the package is bad’, ‘I love living with pigs as they had a sexy nose‘ sort of which definitely make anyone giggle. Reference to Delhi pollution and it’s Chief Minister Kejriwal too were also not spared and they too found their way to add the contemporary feel.

But there are some spoilers too in the form of explicit mention about sexual organs and new codes like ‘brexit’ which was altogether given a different ulterior meaning in this series.

The direction of Amir Musanna and Sangram Naiksatam along with writers Suprith Kundar and Harish Peddinti have succeeded in presenting life in a boys hostel in its true perspective without meddling with Kavitha Aunty like episodes and concluding on a positive note ‘Friends are Forever’.

The musical score by Jimmy Joy and Vaibhav Bundhoo was good while the compositions ‘I am Coming Home’ and ‘These are the days’ were rendered admirably by Tulika Mijar, Jimmy, and Shambhavi Thaku.

Final Verdict

Those who had enjoyed the first season will definitely get more enjoyment this season with a message ‘Friends are Forever’ in the end which is more invaluable and remains as the main takeaway of the season. Overall, Hostel Daze Season 2 with its four episode series provides a good time pass even for all those who want to get nostalgic and want to revisit all those memorable days spent in a hostel.
