The BBC has officially confirmed the principal cast for Honey, its upcoming prequel to the hit spy thriller Killing Eve. According to Deadline, the series brings together a strong ensemble of acclaimed international actors, signaling a high-profile expansion of the Killing Eve universe.
Leading the cast is Ann Skelly (Rose Plays Julie, The Nevers), who takes on the central role of Martha Schmitt. Nate Mann (Apples Never Fall, Masters of the Air) stars as Kurt Fischer, while Jannis Niewöhner (Ruby Red, Sapphire Blue) portrays Friedrich Bauman. Rory Kinnear (Penny Dreadful, Toxic Town) joins the lineup as Graham Anderson.
Expanded Supporting Cast Announced
In addition to the lead roles, several notable actors have been confirmed in supporting parts. Oliver Cudbill (Flower, My Lady Jane) appears as Stefan Weiss, with Sonita Henry (The Chelsea Detective, Role Play) playing Anne Anderson. Victoria Mayer (Berlin Station, Die Wolke) steps into the role of Ingrid Schimmel, while Valentino Dalle Mura (Honey, Drift – Partners in Crime) portrays Rolf Muller.
The cast is further rounded out by July Namir (Collateral, Homeland) as Kamilla Akhmedova, Julian Niedermeier (No Hard Feelings, Game Over) as Otto Kowalski, Sofia Oxenham (Death in Paradise, Dracula) as Greta Abstreiter, and Daniel Zielinski (The Final Tape, Honey) as Tomas Klein.
Plot Overview: Espionage at the Heart of Honey
Deadline reports that Honey centers on Martha Schmitt, an undercover MI6 operative navigating a dangerous web of enemies determined to expose her true identity. As tensions rise, Schmitt must stay one step ahead of her most formidable opponent, Friedrich, who heads the Stasi’s counterintelligence efforts against Britain. The series promises a tense Cold War–era spy narrative filled with deception, shifting alliances, and psychological warfare.
How Honey Connects to Killing Eve
The outlet previously revealed that Martha Schmitt is, in fact, a younger version of Carolyn Martens from Killing Eve. While the BBC has remained tight-lipped about further connections, the project’s positioning strongly reinforces its role as a narrative prequel.
